Lockedcan i attach anything to my DYS4500?

When I purchased by DYS4500 I thought I could use all 'ground engaging stuff' the sales girl certainly led me to believe I could.  To my dismay, I cant, because it's a 'lawn tractor' not a 'garden tractor' - difference being the wheel size or so I'm told.  Is there anything that attaches to this tractor? Or can I just buy bigger wheels to give me the height I need?

You need the garden tractor frame for a sleeve hitch to attach ground engaging equipment.

I have a DYT4000, 26hp, lawn tractor...is it possible to use a 486.24414 blade with some modifications if necessay? Carl

The 24414 blade fits Garden Tractors only.  You will need to use the 24441 blade.  There is a 24428 48" Snow blade that might work depending on your model number.  You can call 1-866-576-8388 for compatibility questions.

The DYS4500 has a Tufftorq k46 transmission and is NOT rated for ground engaging work.  It has little to do with wheel size.  I'm sure it's the same for the DYT4000 too.  You can move loose material, but no digging into solid earth.

OK I have the DYS4500 Mod# 28826.  Will the 48" blade 244283 fit or not?  I read the reviews for the 42" 24441 blade and I'm a little concerned about the quality of that blade.

The 24428 is a universal blade and should fit all Craftsman and most major brands of tractor.

I also have a dys4500 and purchased the sleeve hitch assembly and the Electric Lift.  When I tried to install the side plates with the pivot pins, they install at an angle.  This causes the tractor hitch hole and the sleeve hitch hole to mis-align.  There is a gap of 3-4 ".  I think a plate can be made to provide attaching the sleeve hitch to the tractor hitch which will cause the sleeve hitch to become 90 degrees to the tractor i.e., proper alignment.  The only area not investigated is the electrical connection.  That should be easy per say. I don't think the height of the wheels has anything to do with it.  The DYS4500 has 24 HP which is as strong as any "Garden Tractor".  I will post tomorrow when I make the plate and try the procedure above.

Besides the size of the wheels and the design of the hitch plate, the GTs have a somewhat heavier duty transaxle. I would imagine if you can get the sleeve to fit at the proper height, the LT will do the job, but it's really not built for that kind of work. Kind of like using a car to pull a heavy trailer instead of using a truck.
