Hello

I am looking for family camping within 150 miles of Evanston, IL.  I would like the following:

-natural lake (not man made)

- canoeing - preferably on a river

- bike trail/paths for biking

-trees/forest vs prairie (if possible)

My wife and I live in Minocqua WI, we have all of those things up here in our neck of the woods.  We have numerous paved bike trails, the most famous of these is the one that runs from Bolder Jct, all the way to Sayner WI, and then you can continue on to St Germaine WI, my wife and I have ridden these numerous times, and we really enjoy them.  There also is the Bearskin bike trail that begins behind the Minocqua post office and continues for 18 miles to HWY K, you need a trail pass, but the price is not to bad, the trail is very beautiful, and has numerous wooden bridges, and then there is a very nice bike trail that begins at the ball park in Three Lakes WI and continues towards Eagle River, it too has nice wooden bridges on it.  The last two trails mentioned are hard gravel, but are easy to ride.

There are many beautiful campgrounds up here, and rivers to canoe, fishing is also very good.  The town of Minocqua has many opportunities for relaxation and fun, the town has two nice coffee shops and many home town businesses for shopping.  The ride from the Evanston area is more than 150 miles, but it is well worth it.
