It is easy to change and filters out the really fine dust. Easy to clean out with a blunt bamboo skewer to extend use.
This is my second filter purchase for my Ultracare Kenmore Bagless Vacuum. My first filter lasted nearly the first year of purchase, however, drywall dust from a recent home remodel made it necessary to replace. To help the filter last longer, we tap the dust/lent out after each use.
This will be the first time I'm replacing the filter in my vacuum since I bought it in August 2008. I don't think I'd really have to replace it if my darling husband didn't use my vacuum to clean out our wood stove before *all* the coals were cold! FYI - when you suck up hot coals, at the very least it will put one or more holes in your filter - if not catch your vacuum on fire, I would imagine (my husband is lucky this didn't happen... it's possible I love my vacuum more than him)!
