LockedWhat to do in Chicago?

posted on November 19, 2009 at 05:42AM Inappropriate?

Obviously Hoffman Estates would be a big attraction. Is there a Sears and Roebuck Museum or anything? And they are famous for the pizza. Looking for historical, educational, or just plain fun things to see only in Chicago.

Get a hot dog, Chicago style, with the celery salt and the pickle and all the other stuff that goes on it. SO GOOD.

Lots of fun stuff to do here!

Must go to see Sears Tower (or, I guess, Willis Tower)-they have a crazy new glass box skydeck, where you actually can step out a bit, and see straight down!

Navy Pier is fun to walk around-lots of shops and a great place to take kids.

All the museums are amazing-Field Museum, Science and Industry, Planatarium or the Aquarium.

If you are comning in spring or summer, a Cubs game is always a blast.

There is so much in Chicago Houdiniphile! You can go see the original Sears tower or the Sears on State St. store, the Art Institute, the Aquarium, The Museum of Natural History, The Cultural Center, Shopping on Michigan Avenue, The Hancock Tower, The Lincoln Park Zoo, take a bike ride along Lake Michigan or take in a show at one of the amazing theaters.  And we have a ton of amazing restaurants... and yes, the pizza is really good.

Shopping on Michigan Avenue and State Street is always great. Particularly at this time of year with all of the holiday decorations and lights. Bundle up, though! :)

Has anyone been on the architectural boat tour in Chicago? It's on my list of things to do this summer!

Yes. I've been on that tour and it's really very good.  My boss suggested it and I wasn't too crazy about the idea but my husband thought it sounded fun so we went and I had a really great time. I highly recommend it. It's nice to see all the architecture from the perspective of being in the river and not just driving or walking past on the street level and it's surprisingly quiet down on the river.  We went at the end of September and it was a little chilly.

...if ever you come by...make sure to pop in portillo's for a super chicago hotdog, with everything....and if you're a pizza lover you ought to try Uno's or Lou Malnati's...and while driving along 290 you might even see John Cusack or Oprah or Rvblue driving by.....

Oh yes definitely stop by Portillo's for a dog or Italian beef.  My hubby ate there twice in one day last time we were in Chicago. Yummy!

You'd think, but not so much. There are like 50 other people on the boat too :)  Maybe a gondola or those swan boats would fall more into that romance category.  The architecture tour was very good though.  Informative and interesting.

I could not imagine dealing with the sea of people in Tokyo, and when I flew into NYC for a project, we wound up relocating to New Jersey to finish our study. I was a lot easier. . . I am live in Nc but I am in TX half the time. or more than half lately. Isn't Austin fun?

You sure love your sports, don't you? LOL. You sent me to KMart once looking for a Baby's first elmo and you may not remember but I will remember forever.

Baby saw a Glow Worm and had to have it. I think she will carry that thing to her high school graduation! i loved the layout of the toy aisle. After your posts, I was more prepared to find the right kinds of toys. . .

I am in Houston all the time, and Lufkin. I'd love to see Austin again someday. . .
