My vacuum has NO suction. Went from sucking everything to barely picking up anything. It's a wet/dry shop vac 5 HP, 12 gallon, model 917765. What could the problem be?
Did you keep the paper filter on when vacuuming water?
Have you made sure the internal ball has "dropped" after the vac has turned on its side?
The difference in motor sound is very "distinct" when that ball blocks the vacuum inlet filter port.

That would most likely be the Craftsman "red-line" Shop Vac filter, that fits a large percentage of Craftsman shop vacs.
