Are the wheels on this model safe on hardwood floors and laminate?  I do not want any scratches. What is the difference and likenessess between this model and the progressive?

I'm not at the store, but I believe all Kenmore canisters, with the exception of the Magic Blue and the little yellow bagless, have rubberized wheels, so, yes, it's safe for bare floors.

This model is not as robust. It has a smaller chamber, which means less dirt in the bag before suction is affected, and less suction as the bag fills.

The Progressives also offer some premium features, like telescopic aluminum handles and dirt sensors.
