If you bring your vacuum's complete manufacturer's model number to your local Sears, they should have a reference flip book that will show which bags are compatible with which vacuums.

The long-model number is going to be needed for a parts lookup.

I could not find any reference to a 5038 bag at the store.

There's probably a newer bag, that I'm standing right in front of at the store.

Just need the MN to lookup the "equivalent" part number bag.

I can't believe that no one at Sears has told you this but:

Your vacuum is actually made by Eureka  - private labeled as  "Kenmore". If you'll buy Eureka type B bags (still available commonly), they are the exact same bag (3 bags and 3 motor filters per pack).

Genius!

That's like the Kenmore Coffee maker using Cuisinart water filters.

So, simple...

I've got a great one too.

What is the "optional" reel mower grass catcher?

Hint: You wont find it mentioned on the website OR anywhere in the store...

I just went on-line and purchased (6) bags (8 vacuum bags in each) for my kenmore 24195 (Majic Blue) vacuum cleaner for less than $40 incl shipping (which was free with a purchase over $35).  The question is; how is Sears or Kenmore still open for business when they cannot even provide customers with the accessories to the products they sell either on-line or at their store? The answer; that's why they aren't doing so well!

A Magic Blue vacuum is sold in the stores.

Try visiting your local store and see if the replacement bags are not either listed in the description of this current product or if the bags, themselves, are not hanging right above the vacuum cleaner.

Or, ask a vacuum Sales Associate for assistance in locating a bag.
