bad lid switch for model 11020712990

My problem is the water will not drain or begin the rinse cycle, after the wash cycle is complete.  I believe it is the lid switch part number 3949238, but getting to the connection is my challenge.

It sounds like you are saying the water will not drain out. So will it spin at all?  I have this problem with my Maytag small washer and dryer and my daughter says her large Whirlpool washer does not drain completely out. I think this is a common manufacture problem.  Does anybody else have this problem?

heres how you do it......

remove the end cap covers on each side of the console

remove 2 phillips screws that were under the covers

flip console up & remove 2 copper colored clips from cabinet

lean entire cabinet forward to access switch

  ..sounds like your willing to try to fix it yourself  so i wont say  just call sears
