I talked to samsung and they confirmed that they have fixed the crazy detergent dispenser design flaw they had previously insisted was normal !! I called sears today and they said yes there were new item numbers for the detergent drawer and have shipped out a new one !!   I am so exited as this was frustrating since I couldnt use prewash or there was no soap left for the main wash . It was frustrating.

I am a little dissapointed that they didnt contact me to tell me there was a fix for this issue I had to call and tell them and tell them I heard a fix was out now and they confirmed so if you have these issue with soap running right into washer call for a new one .

That's awesome. I'll be sure to share that with any customers who ask. Thanks for the information!

also I made the mistake of calling samsung for service first and after days of no call back after filling out the online form  I called again and they were going to eventually send someone from 3 hours and a ferry ride away from me. What sense does that make . I called sears 10 minutes later its on its way

Yeah, that's why I always advise customers to call Sears with any issues or questions. It's almost universally easier and more efficient to work with Sears than the manufacturer.

Hi Mom4321,

What is the model number of the Samsung washer you have?  What is the part number for the new detergent dispenser from Sears?  How can I tell the difference between the new detergent dispenser and the old one when I am looking at machines at Sears.

I am looking at purchasing either a Samsung 448 or an LG.

Thanks!

I have the 448 . Im not sure how you can tell maybe somehere can tell you since i havent seen the new one yet . The old one has a sliding thing you put up or down for liquid or powder That may have changed in the new one.

Sears looked it up and said there was an old item number then new ones so we shall see what comes. Someone said they just got the machines and they had hte new dispensers so I assume all new ones will ship with the new one.

Can someone please post the part number for the replacement dispenser?

Mom4321, what department at Sears did you call?  Phone number?

Can you check your paperwork or perhaps call and ask what the part number is?  I just got the 448 and noticed the liquid detergent (with the dispenser lever down in the main detergent compartment), runs right into the machine.  Looks like I have the same problem and will not be able to use the prewash function until I get the new dispenser.

Thanks!

well they said I would have it in 5-7 days but I still have NOTHING . I guess I have to start going through the whole thing again to get the part. Very frustrating.

Does the " sears cares" that I read about here help with these issues ? can they check and see if my part is on its way?

To Mom4321,

First allow me to apologize for the delay in responding to your post. My name is Brian and I am part of the Sears Cares escalations team. I don't know what is going on with getting the part to you unless there is a manufacturer's backlog on the new part due to the demand for it. In response to your question, yes we can look into the situation and make sure this gets resolved. At your convenience, please contact my office via email at searscares@searshc.com and we would be happy to help. In the email, please provide a contact phone number and the phone number the washer was purchased under (if different than the contact phone number) and we will call you directly. Also, please provide the screen name (Mom4321) used to post here for reference to this issue, and we do look forward to talking to you soon.

Thank you,

Brian J.

This is great information.  I am still deciding between the Samsung 488 or the LG 3001.  Steam dryer with refillable water container or direct connect.  i am concerned about the soap dispenser issue though.  How does one tell if it is the 'new" style?  i looked at the display model at Lowes and it has the plate that goes down for liquid and up for powder.  I am tempted to bring a bottle of water to the store and poor some in to see if it goes anywhere.  Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I noticed that today when I was playing around with it (at Sears).   So, does the company or Sears supply the new costomer (as well as the old ones) a new part?  What goes here?
