I never, in my wildest dreams, thought getting a new washing machine would be a problem. Now the lights in my house flicker on and off whenever the agitatior is running, my water pipes  and get pulled by the hoses on the machine as they whoosh and lunge, the wash water is cool, not warm, the clothes do not dry fully in my dryer because all the water never spins out of them plus the clothes do not even smell freshly cleaned despite using fabric softener (maybe the dispenser isn't working, either!) Why should I have to buy a $50 part to get warm water in my machine, have an electrician come out to check the electricity, install new hoses, etc. when this is a brand new machine???!!!! None of this happened with my wonderful old Maytag. My electricity and plumbing were just fine for it and it washed quietly, spun the water out perfectly and did a great cleaning job. I just wish I had replaced the timer on it and not bought a new machine, but it is now gone forever. I guess this new one has to go back, but I can't seem to find any machine that other people haven't had problems with. Does anyone know of a top loader that does not have numerous problems? I'm so disappointed  and am having a difficult time deciding what to do next.

Hi wonderingone-Welcome to MySears!  What kind of washer did you purchase?  If you haven't already, try giving Sears a call to have a tech come out to see what is going on with your machine.  The number is 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

Let us know what you decide to do!

Julie, i wouldn't have been such a wiseguy but she started three different threads about this machine and i think Terry helped her out on one of them.

WoW! I am looking for a new washer and I guess a dryer so that they can match...

OH, please don't tell me I'm gonna have trouble with the newer washer and dryer...

I just bought a 32" flatscreen TV for my bedroom, then I had to buy hdmi cord, change my cable box, and then a home theater because the TVs only put out 10/30 watts of sound...lol

NOW you tell me theres more to washer and dryers....OUCH!

I just bought a front loader by Samsung.  It's the best washer I have ever had.  It says it will cost $8 per year to run plus water costs.  I wouldn't waste my time buying a top loader.  They are less efficient and tear up your clothes after a while.  If you are having trouble, you can call Sears & buy the extended warranty.  You can purchase it at anytime and they'll come out.  They will offer you a replacement if you are not totally satisfied with what you bought.  The warranty is called the Master Protection.

BTW, we didn't buy Maytag b/c the sales person told us that we were better off buying something else.  He said the quality of Maytag has changed for the worse.

There are "lemons" out there in everything you buy, Sears sells a sound product. Maybe yours was made on a Monday.

Yaa...

Them new fangled machines can be tricky.

You've GOT to read the owner's manual.

And, chances are, they got a computer inside of them - somewhere.

Buy a 900 joule Surge Protector for anything that uses 120 volts.

My Coffee Maker has a computer thing inside of it!

I mainly get more "tired", than frustrated...

And, that's where the COFFEE comes in!

I just purchased an electrolux front load washing machine and I just love it. I was a little hesitant at first because of the price, but it was well worth it.  I owned a kenmore top loader and it was the worst machine ever.  i couldn't wait for the darn thing to break down!!  The Kenmore left lint all over my clothes no matter which size load I was using, the clothes were always very wet, the spin cycle was terrible. The electrolux is so easy to use even though it looks complicated.(my husband even knows how to use it!) The clothes come out almost dry, the machine is very quiet and a pleasure to use.  I always hated doing laundry but now I love it. You have to be sure you have all your items in the machine before you start it because it locks you out so you can't add forgotten clothes once you start it.  I purchased the utility drawer underneath to store my detergents. Now I'm hoping my dryer breaks down so I can purchase a new one to match!!

Maddie, you can add more clothes to the machine by pushing the start button again. The machine will drain out the water and then unlock the door for you to add more items. Once you've done that you can hit the start button again and the washer will resume. Same operation applies for pausing the dryer during operation.

Well, I was really hoping for some "new" Craftsman metal ornaments, this year.

Maybe a miniature electric hammer, to commemorate the flood of demand for the tool around Father's day and hopefully the up coming December holidays?

But, I'll just add some "spares" to my bolo collection.

Just wanted to chime in and say that Maytag WAS bad, but since Whirlpool bought it a couple years ago, the quality went WAY up. Your salesperson was misinformed.

Sears replacement claim is a joke. I bought a washer and dryer in 2000 and have had problems with it ever since. I bought the extended waranty for all those years. The dryer never would dry heavy clothes all the way I had them out many times to work on it. I finally said the heck with it and bought a used dryer this summer at an auction for 50.00 and it works.  They never offered me any replacement on the dryer. I just talked to thema bout a leak in the washer yesterday and am still waiting for a customer service person to call me back. I guess they don't want my business.

Adam O,

I have a GE Profiler washer and dryer and it is wonderful, works like a charm; would not trade it for anything.
