LockedKenmore 80 series dryer - object fell into lint shute

My daughter was cleaning the lint screen. When she went to put it back in, she knocked a hangar extension into it (it's a metal hook that hangs around a hanger neck to hang another hanger on it). We tried hooking it out with a magnet but can't get it. Is there a way to open up the lint shute and get it. We can hear it when we send an extended hanger down there.

Good news, there is a flexible shaft magnet you can buy from the Sears tool department.

It is over, near the levels, rather than the automotive tools and should follow the curve of the lint screen cavity, nicely.

Or, there is a really handy pickup tool, with a springy-shaft, and a four-jawed pickup end, over to the automotive specialty tools.

Good luck.

on the newer dryers you can remove the vent housing very easily, remove the back cover of the Dryer, remove the 2-screws that connect the vent to the top, then you can remove the 4- screws that secure the vent housing to the back of the bulkhead. then you can completely remove the housing from the rear of the Dryer.

Everything that I have read says that I have to remove the drum but I can't find how to do that.
