LockedStackable Washer and Dryer

posted on November 04, 2009 at 07:50AM Inappropriate?

I am looking to purchase a washer and dryer. Do to space I have to be able to stack them. I noticed good reviews on the Fridigaire 27 in front load electric system. I know the cheapest way to go is with the washer and dryer combination units. I also noticed on Electrolux website though that they have their IQ Touch stacked. I know there are kits to stack them as well. My real question is: Is it worth paying double the price for the IQ Touch Washer/ Dryer if I'm going to stack them? I would really like something high capacity thats going to last me a long time and I don't need a lot fantsy stuff.

Hi casey2468-Welcome to MySears!  I am sure there are quite a few community members who can help out with this one.  There are also some older threads on this subject, too.  Just type "stackable washer" in the discussion search bar on this page, and see what comes up.

Here is one to get you started:

It's simple: you get what you pay for.  I've heard time and time again from service techs about the many problems they encounter with Frigidaire.  Electrolux are among the highest priced washers and dryers...but you can't get them any bigger (the washers are 4.7 cubic feet, the dryers are 8.0).  But LG and Samsung (which are well-rated, also) have some models that are 4.5 washers/7.4 dryers, and the top-of-the-line Kenmores are 4.4 and 7.4...all of which come in at lower price points than the Electrolux.  And all of them are stackable.  As long as they are a matched set, they can be stacked...the Kenmores even come with the stacking kit at no additional charge (although stacking kits for the others are $34.99 or less).

Any front-load washer and dryer can be stacked. The important things to consider are:

*will this be installed on a second floor?

*how much capacity do you want/need?

*do you have any brand preferences?

*how tall are you? (some machines can be too high to reach the controls depending on your height)

*how soon do you need it? (there are some huge deals coming up, with Family & Friends night coming up soon, and Black Friday)

Thank you so much. That helps a lot. I think I'll keep my eye out for a good deal on a nice pair (washer/dryer).

WE NEED THE TOP PART OF A KENMORE STACKABLE UNIT, THE DRYER.  DO YOU HAVE THOSE ONLY?  WHAT'S THE PRICE?
