the basket will not easily move until the motor turns and releases the brake. sounds like you may have a lid switch prob

with the motor disengaged wouldn't the basket turn freely,or is the transmission/clutch keeping it from spining

there is a brake on the spin tube and is released buy the clutch driven by the transmission,  Is you motor running or is it making any sort of noise like its trying to run. does it have water in it. is at a fill or spin point on the timer

After i unplugged the washer, than plugged it back in, the motor did make a clicking noise for about 1 or 2 seconds then stopped.the basket was fill with water, and the control knob was between the wash and rinse/spin cycle.I since than emptied the basket so i could check out the pump, which is not clogged(it does spin freely),and made sure the motor wasn't jammed (it also spins freely),but i think the probelm might be in the clutch/transmission/brake area.how do i get in there to check these parts?
