My amana washer died today. The repair servicer said it is time to say bye bye. I have had kenmore in the past and was not that happy with them. I purchased a Ge dryer a couple of years ago and not to happy with that either.Any suggestions.....
Well Amana does still manufacture washers and dryers you know. You may want to begin your search there on our website. In order to help you more, you could send me a private comment with price, capacity size, type (front load or top load), and features in order for me to narrow your search.
I may be wrong, but isn't Amana made by another company ... Whirlpool?
Regardless ... and I bet people are tired of reading this ... I really like our new Maytag Bravos. We have the 850 series and right now at least couldn't be happier with them.
I am looking as well for a washer and dryer.. Any recommendations? I am leaning towards Samsung models 38302 & 88302 washer and dryer... Has anyone purched these from Sears? Also looking at LG but not positive on any model yet...

I am in the same situation as you. I have had the greatest of luck with my Maytag 13 year old washer and dryer with not even one service call but alas the dryer is just about gone (little heat and lots of noise) so I have been told by many folks that Samsung is the "best" today. I am looking at the same models as you are but after reading some of the other reviews posted I am getting cold feet about these models.
Glad to hear you're considering the 38302 (Samsung model # WF219ANW) and 88302 (DV219AEW) pair. I'll provide a few highlights of product features that you may find helpful in making a decision, and leave the reviews up to other customers, since you'd expect nothing less of me than to tell you how great our products are.
The 4.0 cubic foot washer and 7.3 cubic foot dryer are large enough to fit a king-size comforter. The washer is equipped with Samsung's signature Vibration Reduction Technology(TM) and a direct drive motor - both of which contribute to making it very quiet and ideal for installing anywhere in the house, even upstairs. The dryer has a stainless steel drum for durability, and sensor drying technology to help save energy. The units are stackable, or can be installed side by side directly on the floor or on pedestals, which raise them to a comfortable height for loading and unloading laundry. Some people also like the hidden storage space they provide.
Let me know if you have any particular questions about the Samsung models. Good luck with your decision!
I can understand your concern. Sometimes issues do arise. What I can tell you is that both Samsung and Sears stand behind their products, and both are committed to customer satisfaction. We have a great track record in this arena, as evidenced by JD Powers & Associates Overall Customer Satisfaction Awards both for Washers and for Dryers in 2009.

Hi rick48,
Most front loaders can be stacked, and will usually require a stacking kit specific to that manufacturer or model. The distance that you can run the vent depends on several factors, including the type of duct (rigid or metallic flexible), number of 90-degree elbows you need to use for turns, and even the type of weather hood you're installing (4" or 2.5"). Samsung's maximum recommended duct length for our dryers ranges from 21' to 80', depending on these variables.
