how lom is the initial warranty on a new washer?

The manufacturer's standard warranty is 1 year, defects only. Particular components may have longer warranties, depending on the manufacturer and the part. Sears offers Master Protection Agreements that give you up to 5 years of 100% protection against defects, normal wear and tear, power surge damage, trip charges, parts, labor, complimentary annual preventive maintenance check-ups, rental reimbursement during extended repair periods, replacement in case of non-repairable problem or upon the fourth functional failure in any 12 month period.
