Careful, you don't want to give "Murphy" a target.

Love to hear that, AU!  I bet it has been reliable and working great for all those years, too!

Did you purchase the water heater yourself, or did it come with your house?

I don't know that Sears is really helping itself with this part of the site. Seems like Adam0 is affiliated with Sears. Whether or not he is, I would never give my money that supports this sort of 'customer service'. I came here looking for a water heater, but am now not inclinded to purchase anything from Sears. There are a lot of other fish in the sea. Regards

This is also a social site, with the board being named "discussions".

What is not Customer Service about my posts, oh one post wonder... ?

Any company dumb enough to let you post under their domain does not need my business.

It's such a pleasure working with this caliber of individual...

It makes all my posting and Customer Service efforts, feel so appreciated and restores my faith in people's common sense and sense of humor.

AU, I'm curious whether the water in your area is hard or soft.  And do you flush out the tank every year?

Adam0 Well, I read several of the threads on this part of the site, and many of them have intemporate remarks from you that are not at all useful in customer service. My question is: Are there any adults from Sears that monitor postings here? If so, the next question is: Do you think it is good for your image to allow this level of discourse?

It IS sinking down to some of the other posters' levels, which should be avoided.

However, if you reread the posts, I think you will find that in all cases personal attacks have precipitated all of my replies.

Someone is upset about their situation - granted.

They want to blow off some steam - have a ball!

Attack a fellow poster - Not likely.

And, I do my very best to avoid escalation of exchanges.

But, Bully's need to be challenged.

That, having been said, the main reason I come here is to learn about the Sears community and to try to be helpful toward resolution to questions and problems.

It's a social site.

My origninal post was tongue and cheek humor, that no one - save YOU, seemed to take offense too.

Regards, right back.

Enough of this personal stuff! I want to know about the product. I wish everyone would be sure to state wether their heater is electric or gas!

I thought your remark was clever and humourous. Happy New Year!

Well, the appologizing category is done filled up.

The diatribes are plentiful.

As far as intemporate goes, I don't attack other posters (first).

And, can anyone really be "too" intemporate to a rude TROLL?

my kenmore water heater has been worked on by a certifiable sears tecnichian, and  after that 1 year offer, i replaced both elements..... that was at 2 years.......we are at 3.5 yearsits blowing the breaker...no fires yet...i do have a fantastic lawyer on speed dial, but i would rather not go that route.i am in no lack of hot water, my heater is set on a or low, and it is 160+ degreesi have called and called, i cannot reach a person. should i just throw this piece of **** back at you, i have yad it 4 years it s been worked on 3 times and need another service now before someone is scalded by the 160 degree temps. i am tired of paying for this thing, i paid almost 500.00 to start with, it should have been carefree for many years, now i am about 700.00 into a water heater with a 12 year (limited) now i know why its limited

Hi TroyLouhse-Welcome to the site.  We can have SearsCares, the customer service escalation team, see if there is anything they can do to help.  Send me a private message with your name, email address, and phone number.  They will contact you shortly.

Need to get the element out? And that ****** thing thats sold should be band. I need a breaker bar, but what size socket deep should I get?  thanks for the help from any one with the knowledge and the experience of going threw this also but now wiser.

A 1-1/2" socket is needed with a 1/2" drive breaker bar.  The socket can be purchased at AutoZone, if you have one in your area. <$9.00 in Ohio. Those cheaply made sockets at the stores like Lowes and Home Depot won't do the job, if your element is rusty.  They are too large/loose to allow a good grip on the hexagonal nut on the element.  I am now into replacing thermostats, due to lower one popping the reset button, or too high of water temp... like scalding when set on a low temp on both top and bottom thermostats.
