The newer version of Sears.com is available at beta.sears.com

it sometimes works when you go to the regular site, but if you want to check the look, visit the site by typing beta before sears.com

Is it any faster than the present system?

the task pane on the left side of the beta site either needs to be intergrated some where directly into the browser or needs to be able to be hidden off to the side because it forces  the entire site to be off center which just looks bad.

my connection must be horrible. it takes me forever to load the images I want to show my friends. maybe it would work better at the MC D's up the street?

my new iMac loads everything on Sears.com without a hiccup. Guess the site isnt as horrible as I first expected.

Site could still use some work, but it's pretty cool.  They added more than 1,000,000 items over the last 120 days.  So many things available.

This will quickly become your one stop shop.  Everything you need.  Give it a try.  Try searching for something.  See if you can stump it.  If you can, they want to hear about it.  If you really want the item, there are personal shoppers who will help you locate.

happy surfing

how do you know they have added 1 million items in 120 days? that sounds like a huge number of sku's but I would be more happy to read a source about the effort. Good find.

It's been a major effort at the Hoffman Headquarters.  I work in the buying offices and have been a part of this effort.   A lot of the item count may come from books and cds but it's still incredible.  We want Sears to be the Marketplace that meets all of your needs.  No reason to shop elsewhere.

Try searching for something.  Odds are pretty good you will find it.

I assume it also includes authorized sellers who you can also find on Sears.com now.

Yes, it includes the authorized sellers.  That is the marketplace being created.  Very simialr model to Amazon.com.  Sears will be the conduit to some of these other vendors, retailers, and distributors.

Circuit City is also now an authorized seller on Sears.com. :)

Well...the new site is okay...when I first started working for Sears.com, the website was much more simple and easier to manouver. Now there's just so much Java script that it cripples the performance on our systems. :( "Don't fix it if it ain't broke."

Javascript is the future of the internet, I applaud Sears for using it because it is the additional coding style to use. I looked over some the source code for Sears and its not the code, its mainly the servers and a few kinks here and there.

Not using Javascript is archaic, to many peoples computers are just out dated.

Circuit City dot com was purchased by someone as part of the bankruptcy.  It continues to operate using that name, but is not the original company.  They do not honor any of the original warranties or promises made by the previous Circuit city.  They purchased the name as a marketing tool.
