Most Helpful Favorable Review

I'm an 18 year old college student who was looking to gain a little muscle. I have found this to be a great way to add muscle to your body. Since I've gotten this I've improved my bench press from 135lbs to 205lbs. The only thing that I see as a downfall is the amount of weight you actually get with...

After trying to purchase a gym from Sears for 2 months, I had to settle for this unit, as my other choices were always out of stock. Assembly- instructions are terrible, a video would be much better. some assembly is out of order, like putting up the shroud during weight assembly, bad idea, save...

Pile of junk. I only reach step 5 and realize the shrouds that were sent were the wrong shrouds. Even the official Sears installer could not put it together. They gave up also.

I bought this as a surprise gift for my husband on our anniversary. Big mistake!! He started to put it together and the main base piece was bent and was he unable to get the screws in correctly. I called Sears (I bought the extra warranty). They sent out the part and it must be a common problem because it was back ordered and wasn't being shipped until 3 weeks later. I received the new part today. The end of the part that was originally bent on the one side was correct, however on the other end was now bent. Just got off the phone with Sears again. They are sending out a technician who isn't available...

We love out Weider Weight System!  My husband was able to put it together no problem.  Our enitire family loves using it.  My husband races motorcycles and this system helps him keep his strength conditioning up.  Our son plays football and he can get a whole body workout to keep up with his condtioning when he comes home on the weekends.  My mom and I use it as well after we walk on the treadmill for a full workout!

I recommend this product to anyone who is trying to stay conditioned or just starting out.

Good value for $399.99.  Reading the reviews was very helpful.  It does take 8 - 10 hours to assemble.  Finding the right parts during the assembly will take 80% of the time.  The company did a good job labeling the parts.  The bolts, washers, nuts, etc., are separated into 3 blisters corresponding to each stage of the assembly, which was very helpful.  Labeling of the pulleys would have been a great time saver.  I did not need any assistance in assembling it (I am 5'11", 195 lbs).  Although you can assemble it with a wrench, it is highly advisable to use a ratchet set.  The assembly did...

Simply convenient!

It took a while to put it together, but it's been one of the best gift I received.

This gym took 2 days to assemble by myself. As a female, just wanting to tone though, it does the trick and uses very little space. There should be more instructions though on how to adjust the cables once they have settled in. Overall, a good addition to my exsisting pieces of equipment. Directions can be overwhelming though in assembly. Not enough detail on which direction parts go until you have to dissamble and reassemble to complete the next step.

Word of Caution/Big Surprise!!!

Do not do the seated row or back extension exercises on this system! This will cause damage to the cable at the point where the cable feeds through the leg lever. The cable rubs against the leg extension tube. This is a design flaw that needs to be fixed. Then, replacing the cables will cost you a pretty penny. They run about $85 each. When I called, I was told that all three (plus shipping) would cost $300. Heck, I paid that for the whole system! Even with those two flaws, it's a good system and delivers a good workout.

I bought this system yesterday for our family to use at home. I love the compact design since we are limited on space. This system offers a great range for starters and can be expanded as your needs change.

The only downside I have seen so far is the complexity of the assembly instructions and the poor quality of the visual diagrams. I would recommend going through and highlighting in different colors the number of pullies used vs. what you have. The instructions were somewhat confusing for the pullies and cable routings, but we figured it out without a huge amount of trouble. It would have been...

Nice machine...

So far we love this gym.  My husband has been a weight lifter for 20 years, our son is going on 16 and I've been wanting to work out.  So we decided to give up the gym membership and get a home gym.  We all love it, it's very functional for our needs.  Putting it together was quite a challenge.  It took us over 8 hours to get it all together!  You definitely need a rachet set to put this together correctly.  It's very challenging but nothing the average person couldn't figure out.

Everything You Hear Is True

I've had the 4300 for about two weeks and so far everything I read on-line is true. It is a major task to put together so have patience, give yourself plenty of time to assemble it and definitely have a couple of socket sets on hand (all of which the assembly manual recommends). Labeling the parts and prepackaging assemblies separately would help tremendously. Twice I had to take apart an assembled unit due to using the wrong part. One was my fault after missing a clearly defined step in the instructions, the other was a result of a poor illustration and unclear description in the manual. Also... read full review »

NIce weight system for the price

The pros definitely out-way the cons by far.  It wasn't horrible to assembly, but there were a few things that got put together wrong. . .but you'll know it later on.  Some parts of the assembly is beneficial to have a helping hand.  After the assembly, my wife and I really enjoy working out on it.  Definitely worth the money thus far.

Nice!!!

After reading the reviews on this equipment I have found that this is a good system. Putting it together was fairly easy. You have to ready look at the instructions to insure you don't miss anything. The only drawback is that some of the parts in the bags are not marked and the instructions really don't tell you where to find these parts. So when other people say it takes awhile to put together, well it does because of this. You need a second person for only about 15 minutes to hold the upright poles while assembling. Other that that once put together this is a real nice machine for body shaping.... read full review »
