I have had my dishwasher for 2 years now. It has worked almost flawlessly since that time. It looks great, the controls are easy to decipher, has several delayed wash options and is perhaps the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. There are 2 things that are minor irritants: The very narrow silverware...

I have had this machine for only two years. I had to call a repairman out to see why all of a sudden it no longer is working. It had an error code. It will cost me 300.00 for a new motherboard. I am not going to pay that much for a dishwasher repair when I can get a new one for at least that much. I...

I have had this Whirlpool for almost a year. It has worked great.
I had a Maytag and I had to rinse before using it, and the dishes would still be cloudy or dirty. But, with this Whirlpool, I don't have to do anything and my dishes are spotless! I wish it had an energy cycle and the dishes would be a little dryer, but other than that, I have been very pleased with this dishwasher...
I also have a Whirlpool Stove and love it too...
I HAVE HAD THIS DISHWASHER FOR 2 MONTHS. HAD SERVICE ALREADY. SOAP DOES NOT DISPENSE PROPERLY. LEAVES SOAPY FILM ON DISHES AND WASHER. HAVE TO WASH DISHES AFTER THE CYCLE TO GET THE SOAP OFF. DOES NOT CLEAN SILVERWARE BASKET WELL. SERVICE MAN SAID NOT A LOT OF WATER GETS TO THE FRONT OF THE MACHINE. IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO RETURN.
we purchased this dishwasher in august of 2007. since then the repairman has been to out house at least 6 times. the control panel face plate doesn't stick down and comes off. they have replaced it several times. all my glass ware is cloudy and still has dirty residue on them. all my new silverware is ruined, the finish is gone!!!!! each time the repairman came, i was told a different way to use soap in it, don't uwse liquid, don't use crystals, don't use rinse agent, use rinse agent and so on. they have replaced almost everything. i owned a inexpensive GE that was noisy, i never once had the problems...read full review »
Although we have had good Whirlpool appliances in the past. I have to say that this is a bad product. It has a very long run time, and the soap does not dispense well. Unless the dishes are rinsed and well scraped before loading they do not come out clean.
I bought this dishwasher after our other Whirlpool DW stopped working. We had it for 10 years. I thought this DW would be really good and paid a lot of money for it. The first week it had a funny smell and the dishes were not very clean. I switched to the gel detergent and seamed to clean better, but now after several months the detergent doesn't always come all the way out of the slot. It also seams to take forever to clean!! I will never buy a Whirlpool again.
My husband lost the receipe or I would return this to Sears asap. This dishwasher does not clean. We read the directions, followed steps for a clean, spot-free wash, and yet dishes are cloudy and dirty. Utensils do not clean. This dishwasher is a pain to load and unload. It takes about an hour to wash the dishes and they are NOT clean. Worst dishwasher ever. Buy at your own risk.
I have owned 2 homes in the past 20 years and both of them came with Whirlpool appliances as Standard. Over that time, none have needed repair at any time. In my previous home, I replaced a Whirlpool Refrigerator after 10 years. I just replaced my original dishwasher after 8 years of excellent service. This purchase was made based on past experience as well as Consumer Reports recommendation. This dishwasher cleans well and is extremely quiet.
Pros:
it cleans dish well, and runs pretty quiet. it has two wheels on rear end, so it's easy to push the unit during installation.
Cons:
The top rack surface is horizontal and the height cannot be adjusted. I could not wash tall wine glasses. Maytag models at this price have adjustable racks.
The bottom rack cannot be re-configured. big bowls or pots won't fit.
I just replaced a cheap GE dishwasher, which was obnoxiously loud. I was looking for a dishwasher that was quiet, durable, energy efficient, cleaned dishes well, and had a delayed start so I could wash dishes during off-peak hours. We used the dishwasher over a quiet dinner at home. This dishwasher was SO QUIET I couldn't tell it was even washing (except for the lights indicating it was in use). It was not disruptive, and I was amazed at how quiet it really was. The dishes look wonderful; I had no problems with the cleaning ability of the dishwasher. Because it has a delayed timer, it saves on...read full review »
We were trying to redo our kitchen on a tight budget. Because of the number of features and value for the money we decided to purchase this particular Whirlpool dishwasher in part based upon the recommendation of our Sears sales representative. The dishwasher is really a very, very quiet dishwasher although it does have a plastic interior. We had it professionally installed by a plumber into our new kitchen cabinets. However because of its basic design it protrudes further beyond the cabinet line than we would have hoped. The overall cleaning capabilities haven't been exactly what we'd expect....read full review »
I purchased a DU1100 series dishwasher from Sears in December 2004. Since then it has had a recall on the heating system. It then had the motor go at 26 months (2 months out of warranty). Then immediately after the motor was repaired the unit failed again. It looks pretty, but unless you are up for investing in a new one every two years, buy something else because I have had no luck in getting Whirlpool to stand behind their products.
