I am very leary of purchasing Whirlpool products after a very defective stovetop purchase. Luckily, I paid for a 3-year extended warranty for 120 dollars. I had the repair people out here on numerous occasions for a failed ignition switch, and for replacement beauty rings, grids and flame covers due to the constant porcelain literally poping off these items in slivers. I was told by more than one repairmen that Whirlpool should just replace this stovetop, because it was an obvious defect, but to no avail on Whirpool's end. I then realized that Whirlpool does not stand behind their products, nor support the inconvenienced consumer.
I went on Planet Feedback's site to read the many complaints with this company, and can say I was not surprised that I was not the only one to have these problems with Whirlpool.
They have taken over Maytag, Jenn-aire and numerous other brands, so it may become difficult to buy any decent appliances.
I will make it a point to do a lot of research to find a company that stands behind their products. We consumers should not have to buy warranties for products. These products should be made well enough to stand the test of time like our parents had. Some of those appliances are still in good working condition as of today. I am sure they were manufactured in the United States and not Mexico or some other foreign country.
