I bought this stove for a rental apt that I have. My tenant loves it.
I just purchased this stove to replace an old GE gas stove. I had the GE for several years and always ended up with either burned or raw food, and had to cook everything at a different temperature for different amounts of time than what was suggested- it was a complete guessing game! When I finally convinced my husband that we needed a new stove, I looked at several other brands. My family loves Whirlpool and suggested I try it. read full review »This was purchased 2 weeks ago as a replacement for my old stove, which the ignitor broke.
This is the first gas oven I've veer had that heats up evenly and doesn't burn the one side of what i'm trying to bake. For some reason. this one seems a little easier to clean too.. spills wipe right off the top without having to scrub it with a SOS pad.
The installation crew was amazing.. they came right in and hooked it up and even showed me where the emergency shut off valve is.. in case of a fire.
The oven is still working great and we're very happy with it. However, be sure to keep the oven door closed when broiling. I left it open, as recommended by other brands, and partially melted two of the stovetop burner knobs. What's especially irksome is that Sears will not replace the POWERBURNER knob with the same knob. Instead it sends a generic knob. I think this is pretty cheap of either Whirlpool or Sears to not stock this part. Other than this lapse in judgment, the oven is still the best cooking oven we have ever owned.
