The washer is 2 years old and would not spin. The F25 error was displayed. I called Sears service and they pushed a service contract. The contract is $329 only covers expenses up to $500. The repair bill was $800. The entire drum and bearings need to be replaced. I recommend to keep checking the reviews. There are many people with this same failure. So Sears says pay $300 more or get a credit of $500 on a new machine. I sent an email to Whirlpool on the poor quality of the product and there response was to try someone other than Sears for a second opinion at my expense. The...
read full review »We've had our Duet for a little over two years and were just told today that the bearing is shot and the repair would cost over $800. Fortunately, we have a home warranty and its covered but if not, we would be out that much money. The washer did an average job on our clothes. It took a while for me to figure out how to get rid of the funky mildew smell (had to run bleach in the cleaning cycle once a month and only used powder HE detergent) but once I did, I never had the smell problem again. The machine never impressed me and I would not buy another.
I bought the duet 5 years ago. It worked great for only 4 years. The main bearing in the tub housing failed, so I replaced the rear housing for 225 dollars. It lasted 8 months. Now I have to spend over 600 the fix the machine. It is easy to work on, but replacement parts are ridiculously high priced. Needless to say, I'm buying a top loading machine now for the same price it would cost to fix the Duet, and thats if I do It myself. ...
read full review »We recently purchased the Duet set. So far, so good. Both seem to be reasonably quieter than the set they replaced. Clothes and towels are clean, fresh and soft. Unless you have physical limitations, don't waste your money on the overpriced pedestals. We didn't and it is not that much effort. No more than we have all done for years fishing the clothes out of the top-loader and bending over to put them in the front-loading dryer! I was a little concerned about them being so electronically controlled so I purchased warranty through Squaretrade.com for much less than the Sears service...
read full review »We purchased this washer (and matching dryer) right before we found out that we were having two more babies! It has been great. We now have 6 in the family, and you can only imagine the amount of laundry I have to keep up with. I can do larger loads of laundry than with my regular machine. Our laundry area is in our basement. The noise level is just fine. When it spins, it does a little bit louder sound. But, I know that it is really wringing out the water. I like all of the various settings that I can use. I can do delicates on up to heavy duty loads. It was my mother's day gift, and I love...
read full review »We have had this washer for less than 2 years and the motor control board went out. It cost us $600. This is a poorly supported and cheaply built washer and I will never purchase another Whirlpool product, ever. Buy another brand and I am going to sell these units and switch back to Maytag.
I purchased this unit for my new home and did not test it till little over a month after purchase. This washer wouldn't power on. Called Sears and they sent a technician who determined fault with Control unit. I am waiting for the part to arrive and techinician to install it. Sears wouldn't exchange for new and wants to repair it instead. Wondering what is the guarantee on this part & repair.
Have now owned this dryer for 8 weeks and it hasnt worked yet. Two different Whirlpool licensed repairmen have been out and unable to fix it. Terrible customer service over the phone as well. I would recommend against purchasing this item as my experience has been terrible every step of the way.
