Whirlpool Kenmore Elite Side By Side Refrigerator —
The Kenmore Elite Side By Side Refrigerator that we bought when we remodeled our house this spring has some great features that we really like. We really enjoy the fresh fruit snack bin in the door that makes grabbing a wholesome snack of grapes, strawberries, etc quick and easy. It also has a chilling shelf in the door that keeps the milk really cold and prevents premature spoilage. We love the water dispenser with its ability to count the number of ounces being dispensed...very helpful when keeping up with your daily water consumption for health purposes.This refrigerator is great with one exception...the ice dispenser. If you push the small button on the panel to dispense your ice, the button gets stuck on one side and after ice is overflowing onto the floor you are frantically trying to get the button to release and stop spewing ice everywhere. The service department sent someone out and it did it for them. Their answer to the problem was "when that happens just push in more on the side that is not stuck and it should release it." Doesn't always work! Ok, so you say so don't use the button just press the pad behind your glass. Well, even that sends ice out onto the floor long before the glass is full. I think it is a manufacturer's defect that needs to be worked on. It may be the shute has too large of an opening or the shute is positioned incorrectly. Whatever it is, I sure hope that this defect gets corrected soon before you purchase this product. Just for the record we have also in the last 4 years purchased four other major appliances from Sears...microwave, dishwasher, ceramic top range, and most recently a trash compactor...all of which we had been great! So Sears is the first place we go to look for new appliances.
