Whitney Houston I Look To You —

I was so impressed by Whitney Houston's latest studio album I Look to You. There was so much drama surrounding this Newark, Nj native (my hometown) and her tumultuous relationship with Bobby Brown that true fans were left wondering if she would ever record again. Well she did!

I am very impressed with the body of work included on this album. Although Whitney will probably never be able to hit my favorite notes from I Will Always Love You or The Greatest Love of All, the vocal arrangements made what she had to offer sound great. In some respects she hasn't lost a thing.

Although the first single and album title I Look to You has been getting airplay on gospel, r&b, and pop stations that is not not my favorite. I am drawn to the passion in the track Like I Never Left featuring Akon and Nothing But Love which sets the tone for her life now. Giving back to her fans that have been patiently waiting. Another sleeper track is the moving I Didn't Know My Own Strength produced and written by R. Kelly.

For those that still had questions I think she answered them all.

It just shows how Whitney has taken stock of her life now. Hopefully she can get off that rollercoaster. Don't get me wrong I love Bobby Brown but they were very toxic for one another. The truth is he epitomized everything she wasn't or couldn't do or be and that's why they were attracted to one another. The funny thing is he completed her as she did him but not in a way that they could grow together.

Great job by R. Kelly on the writing, producing, and arranging of I Look To You the title track.

Hey check out itunes, youtube.com, or pandora.com to keep up with the music not played on your radio.

That's a great review! I had a similar opinion to 'I look to you' when I heard it. This lame smooth-Jazz channel here only played that cut and no others. Thanks much !
