Surprisingly Good!

I just got this machine in time for the first big NH storm of the season. It made removing the snow from my driveway and walk a pleasure. It's designed for 4" of snow, but will handle a lot more if you work away at it. It's only 20lbs, so it's easy to lift. It throws snow like crazy straight ahead.... read full review »

Cord plug size matters

I bought this in October after seeing the positive reviews. Now that we have some snow in Minnesota, I went out to try it for the first time. However, none of my extension cord plugs fit in the small protective cover. Something must fit, but I don't have the right one at home.

We were happy with the way this worked on the first snowfall. We cleaned it and kept it in a closed-in porch. Three weeks later we got the second snowfall and it would not start. We checked the extension cord and different wall sockets. Either the ignition design is faulty or we got a lemon. Now my wife and I are arguing over replacing with the same unit (we got the Purchase Protect warranty) or demanding our money back and buying something more reliable for a few dollars more somewhere else. This unit is no bargain compared with larger, more powerful electric throwers.

This is the worst thrower I ever bought. I used it once and it tripped circuits twice.

Bring on the snow !

I got it just before we had 8 inches of snow within two days. Day one ,4 inches. Plowed through it, right down to the pavement. Day 2, same thing, no problems. The cord is a hassle, but for the money you can't beat it.Throws snow farther if you keep the chute forward. When the snow is wet and heavy you have to rock it back and forth to remove it. Beats shoveling with a shovel.

Broken Belt

Used it three times on very small powdery snow and it shredded a drive belt. 30 bucks later to order and ship the belt. Surprised when I opened the side of unit to find dust everywhere inside. I've had it less than a month. So don't know how old the thing was. May have had something to do with the belt. It didn't break, it was SHREDDING AND WRAPPING AROUND THE DRIVE UNITS. I should have bought a Honda, what was I thinking.

This little thing kicks butt

I bought the yard man 8.5 amp unit in early december 2008 as we have a new deck that i wanted to try and keep clear this winter and there is no way to get our big snow thrower up on the deck. I also wanted a lighter weight unit so my wife could also use it too. We've already had 2 big snow storms this year as of this review and I have used this thing for all of them. i keep ahead of the accumulations so I've only had to do 6-8 inches at a time and this thrower does a great job of clearing the deck, stairs and patio. I even used it to clear a path in 1 foot of snow by swinging it back and forth... read full review »

My aching back

When I saw the plastic blades I should have not bothered to put it together. You really have to be careful not to hit a stone or ice as it chips very easly. I get a worse back ache from this machine than I did the shovel. I think the handle needs to be re designed. I am only 5'5" and it is too short. I should have the same type of angle as the Snow Joe does and it may take care of the problem. Yes, it does throw the snow, but no as far as it says it will.

I am 50 Plus, so you know shovelling is not a good thing. I purchased the Yard-man 8.5amp Electric Snow Thrower about 2 years ago and I haven't regretted. It maybe light in weight but very efficient when picking up snow. I just get a bit nervious about the electric part of it but I think just the thought of not having to remove that snow, takes care of that. Sound product!

Great for average snow

Got one for my father who has back and knee problems. Was great to clean small driveway and sidewalk in few minutes without any back pain. Worked great on both fluffy and wet snow. The only complaint he had was that extension cord got in the way.

Little Wonder

I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and now have used it for two snows. This last one was 6+ inches and it worked great. No more huffing and puffing while shoveling this white stuff, just easliy push the YardMan and watch the snow blow. It does a great job on the drive and walk. I even used it to clean a spot in the yard out for the dog to use. I only wish it was a little wider. Hopefully it will carry me through the winter. I will report back if it doesn't...

Better than expected

I have a one car garage and a medium long driveway plus wood decks. I was shoveling everything...not really as the decks would typically not get done. They are treated, but I just think it is a good idea. I was debating between this and a Toro electric with an 18" path. I wanted electric primarly because of the weight and size. I did have the Toro PowerBroom which did not have directional discharge and was underpowered (don't get it). The Yard-Man has now been through 3 heavy snows (5+ inches each). It has performed better than expected. I plug it in and just go, go, go. Nothing slows it down.... read full review »

Worked Well and Fun

I bought this for my daughter in SLC. It only snowed once after I purchased it, but she had no difficulty in clearing her sidewalk and driveway of 3-4 inches of wet heavy snow. Plus, she said it was fun to do.

Yard man electric snow thrower

The electric snow thrower worked very well and it saved me alot of time shoveling. I wasn't tired like when you have to shovel. I would recommend it to everybody. I also like how light it is and you can pick it up and bring were ever you want. Thanks
