Kenmore 7,800 BTU Single Room Air Conditioner
I was pleasantly surprised, since my previous Kenmore was 12000 BTU and this one is only 7800. The newer, energy-efficient air conditioners seem to be bulkier and the new 12000 BTU units woudn't fit in my window (measure and check the sizes BEFORE you get it home and make the discovery!). 90% of the time it is quiet, but the compressor does randomly vibrate, which could be a problem if it's right by your bed. My space is large and odd-shaped, so I find that using a fan on the other side of the room to help w/ the air circulation helps the air conditioner work better.
