A Prayer for Owen Meany is the best book I've ever read, and I am an avid reader, so that is saying a lot. It is set in a small town in the 1960s and early 1970s, and the main character, Owen, is one of the most heartwarming, realistic characters I've ever found in a work of literature. The story spans many years in the life of Owen and his best friend, and it is so detailed that a reader will feel as if he or she went through each experience with the two characters.
