    Welcome back, terryf!

In response to terryf's comment from Sep 5, 2009:

I had to empty the freezer to defrost again. This time I caught the calrod actually glowing. At least I know it works. I do not know how often it turns on or whether or not turning the knob to '0' on the freezer actually turned on the defrost cycle.

What do you think could be the problem of having coils stuffed with frost at the top? Is the defrost cycle not often enough or not automatic?

    Thanks

Hi, Lotech here with the stubborn defroster. My model # is GSS22 GFMA WW
Is there a secret button or something I can press to force it to defrost? That way I can make a visual check to if the rod is glowing?

Thank you for your previous response.
