I used a small Craftsman teardrop ratchet for several years -- pretty rugged work too. The gears finally wore out, so Sears replaced it with no problem. It's a good tough ratchet for the money, especially since it's guaranteed for life! I'll keep coming back to Craftsman.
I would recommend Craftsman ratchets and sockets to all. They are the only tools I use because of tool quality and warranty. Craftsman tools have the best warranty that they always honor. I have taken back a ratchet that I had for over 3 years and it was replaced with no question. Just like my sound bite says, "Craftsman, says it all.
I grew up using this ratchet because my father has had this type for over 30 years. I checked out all of the different American made ratchets and finally decided on this one. Snap on was undoubtedly the best but cost 5 times as much and didn't have a quick release. I love the craftsman thin profile fine tooth model but I felt that the 1/2" design was to bulky and heavy for my purposes. Plus I also feel better having an all metal ratchet.
