days inn turned out to be a nightmare.

my birthday is coming up, my husband has to go out of town on the day of my birthday so he decided that we should get a room and spend some quality time together and i should get a break away from the children. i am money conscience my husband is not, he wanted a room with all the extras. i tried getting a room at the radisson but they were booked on the kind of room i was looking for, i now wish i would have booked a regular room from them. the attendent told me the best thing to do was to go to hotels.com and try to find what i was looking for. i logged onto hotels.com and found a room at the days inn in willoughby. the price was right for a basic room. i booked the room and went to mapquest.com to find the directions of how to get there. it went downhill from there. after driving in circles for two hours i called the hotel to see if they could help us by giving us directions i was told that he could not help because he was not familiar with the area we were in. we drove some more, i called back again to see if we could be assisted... nope. finally my husband was fed up he told me to call the hotel back and ask to speak to someone else... i did i was told that he was the only person working and there was no one else there, by now my husband is irate with me for picking this hotel and he begins to raise his voice a bit at me, the attendant hung up on me. i called back and asked why did he hang up on me, he responded that he would not be talked to that way. i explained to him that i was the one on the phone with him and i had been nothing but respectful while talking to him trying to figure this out. he hung up me again. i then called back and asked him could we just cancel the room and be partially refunded some of our money... his response was that the room had been paid for and it would be my loss and with that he hung up again. finally realizing that we would not get anywhere we stayed at another hotel ladies you already know the mood was lost on my end... he complained half the night. as soon as we got home i immediately got on the phone and called hotels. com i was told they would have to contact days inn and see what they were willing to do... 3 seconds later i was told that we were considered a no show and the money would not be refunded. i called days inn myself and asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager. i gave her my name and tried to explain the situation, she told me that the attendant from the night before had worked there for 5 years and she was pretty sure that he was able to give directions which basically means that we were too dumb to follow them. very rudely she told me that she would not budge on her decision. i then hung up and called hotels.com again, this time i was offered a $20 certificate towards another hotel for another day. after this experience i highly doubt i will ever do business with hotels.com and i know for sure i will never ever do business with days inn. i would have been better off sending the children to their nanas house and spending the money on champagne and candles than giving it to a hotel that could give a rats behind about their customers.
