Is the tank building up pressure? It sounds like the compressor is running trying to build up pressure, but for some reason it is not doing so. A leak at the gauges would be something to look for, as would a pump that is not working correctly. Without knowing the type or model of the compressor, it is hard to tell

Is there a shut-off valve or a pressure adjustment knob between the two guages? Generally one guage shows the pressure in the tank, and the other shows the actual pressure in the hose, which can be adjusted for different applications.

I pruchased the air compressor years ago and never used it. I plug it in and the air goes into the tank and the gauage goes to about 120 of preassure. The other gauage does not move.. What am I doing wrong?

In need of reliable air compressor, any recommendations????

Hi Thomas2772;

You are not giving much information to assist in the air compressor recommendation such as what it will power or be used for, how portable it needs to be, duty cycle needs, etc!

But look at the Dewalt D55168R 15 gallon, 1.8 HP, 200 psi, 5.4 SCFM @ 90 psi (actual), wheeled, vertical tank air compressor as a good all around use compressor that should cost around $400.00, and is not very noisy. It doesn't use oil, so maintenance is nothing more than draining the tank after each use and changing the air filter occasionally. Duty cycle is continuous, but the owners manual suggests only running it for 45 minutes each hour for longevity. I purchased a re-manufactured one for $289.00, and free shipping through Amazon.com but actually from ACME tools.

Good Luck

Hello,

I have a Craftsman 26 gal. Vertical Compressor Model# 16770 and I need to replace one of the magnets that give power to the motor. These magnets are located inside the black plastic cover that covers the motor. They have this little spring that pushes the magnet towards each other so that the make contact with the motor and that way it gets electricity and it makes it run. Im not sure if the are magnets or what but I need to replace one of them. any ideas where I can find them?

If you guys look at the picture in the link I posted you can see what Im talking about..... its part #69 in the picture
