It really depends on the manufacturer. Most models have a 1 year manufacturer's warranty that covers manufacturer's defects only.

I bought my daughter a quartz infrared heater (the cabinet kind)last winter and she just started using it again this month and now it will not turn on. She is looking for her paper work but is there any kind of warrantee on these or are the fixable. We paid 300.00 for it on sale and i would think it would last more than one winter.

how do i get someone to remove ac from a fifth fl window

First, put your foot against it and push real hard. Then when it falls stick your head out the window and yell,"Fore!"

Seriously, I am not familiar with the situation where you live, but if available, I would suggest calling someone who services air conditioners, They would have the knowledge and expertise to do it properly. It may be a little more expensive than getting the guy hanging around the corner, but a lot safer!

Your description sounds like proper operation to me.The condenser fan is actually designed with a "slinger ring" to pick up and distribute the water for internal cooling purposes. Some models actually do have a drain tube to distribute the condensate out a dedicated hole, but a lot dont. The important thing is like you said, that it be tilted off the horizontal toward the grass. You'd be surprised how many educated people dont realize that-fluids run downhill.

I wouldnt be surprised that the instructions are hard to understand. Most of them are nowadays. It was probably written by someone who doesnt use English in his day to day life.It seems like this is getting more and more common.

I recently pruchased a kenmore 12,000 btu window a/c unit - it cools wonderfully, however, I'm not sure how it is supposed to drain the water that it pulls out of the air. Even though I have the unit tilted toward the outside at the pitch recommended in the instructions, water collects on the bottom plate at the back of the unit and does not 'drain' out any opening or hole. Some of the water gets spattered around by the fan, and some of the water drips out at the base of the condsenser at the back of the unit. Is this normal, or is there something else that needs to be done to set up the unit? By the way, the instructions that came with the air conditioner were very vague and hard the understand.

Oh I am most definitely impressed. Impressed by the execution of concept, the design, and how it does what it does for what it is. I love innovation as much as the next geek. Heck when I saw it for the first time I was gawking and oogling it for at least 15 minutes, asking all of my buddies if they'd seen it, and trying to justify buying one. I understand that innovation, leading edge tech, grand ideas, and for the most part quality comes at a price, something I liken to VCRs and cell phones costing $1200 when "new". But I...me...this guy, can't wrap my head around me buying a 200 plus dollar luxury fan that is seasonal at best. So Rvblue, I apologize if I have not been able to consicely convey my enthusiasm for the Air Multiplier in my previous posts, but I am, just not with the price.

p.s. I own a Dyson DC28 vacuum so I'm already a huge fan of Sir James' work.

Yes, Gucci price it is. because it's a novelty, a unique invention by the world famous Sir James Dyson, same guy who came up with the cyclonic, bagless vacuum cleaner.

We have to admit, it is a grand idea. Imagine a fan with no blades, no chopped air, nothing but a continuous stream of air emanating from a tiny chamber and transmitted to you through that magic ring. it's simply superb!

Yes I saw this fan at another retailer a couple weeks ago. I think it is an awesome fan and love the design/look. Although with a retail price around half that of my DC28 Animal, the Air Multiplier is a little too Gucci for me to justify.

Yes! I saw one, although not at Sears. I don't understand how it works, but it really has quite a gust coming from it.
Would be so cool to have. I think pretty expensive, though?
