The food she wants is on the top shelf so the shelves are a stepping device for her to climb up to the top shelf. Or she would stand there for the longest time making up her mind what she wanted, I would holler shut that door! she would shout back OK and slam the door closed causing all those bottles in the door to slam against the bars retaining them in those small shelf's.
