I have to say without my sons swing or my daughters bouncy seat i would of gone crazy. My son loved his swing and loved his infant car-seat. My daughter loved her bouncy seat but hated her infant car-seat. Both of my children are special needs and i needed something to put them in and let them soothe themselfs sometimes. My daughter has all kinds of toys she has a johnny jump up, a swing, a bouncy seat, a rocking chair, you name it she might not have it but I've thought about getting one. I don't think it makes you a good or bad parent i spend every waking moment with my kids but sometimes i need a break. About the sitting kids on the floor yes I've sat my kids on the floor in a restaurant in a store in there car-seats and when my son and daughter got older yes i sit my daughter on the floor and yes she crawls on the floor at the store why a lot of it was because i was told she would not crawl until she was 2 yrs old well shes 14 mos old and crawls i don't let her crawl all over the floor at the store but when im holding her and need to get something big i cant hold her and lift the big item. Am i a bad mom you say yes i say no? So good for your daughter doing it all old fashion more power to her but im glad for the swings and bouncy seats.

maternity leave

I absolutly love being a stay at home mom and would not have it any other way. I know this can sound strange to some people, but i just don't feel comfortable with anyone including family to keep my infant on a all day daily basis. No one can care, love, and teach your children the way that a mother can. The bond that you have with your children is awesome. It also makes it easier on everyday baby baby things like potty training. if you are the one home with them being consistant with them, they will catch on much faster. I had someone ask me one day how do so many of the children at your church stay quiet in church and are potty trained. I said b/c a good portion the mothers are stay at home and they are able to devote the time needed to do those kinds of things at an ealier age on a more consistant basis. I totally wouldn't have it any other way. I do understand that it is not possible for some families for the mother to stay home due to financial reasons. Don't get me wrong it is tight for us but it is worth it.

Too the making ur on baby food blog, it is soooo great. I didn't make my own with my first child, but with this one have been and it is great. the food taste much better than the bought kind. it is much cheaper and it is much better for them. even better that the organic bought kind b/c really u can't get all the perservatives out. To the smell thing when u make ur own it does not smell as bad as the bought kind through their diapers. Believe it or not it really doesn't take very long to make your own food.

i have two girls. one is 3 and the other is 6 months. I breast feed my older one until she was 13 months. when i introduced her to baby food it did change the smell of her diapers. it was worse, but it never changed the smell of my baby. NOw with my youngest that i just had she was only breast fed for month and half due to my supply running out. I did notice b/c she was on formual it changed her diaper smell drastically from breast milk to formula, so when she started eating baby food it was not as strastic from formula to baby food. And again it did not change the smell of my baby.

I do agree an disagree with things that have been said. I'm a stay at home mom and i due feel that it is important for the mom to stay home with them for a least a year if it is possible. I do know that in this day in time it is not always possible finacally for a mother to do so. As far as the sitting a baby on the floor at a restaurant or store, I have not seen anyone do that unless it has been for a few seconds until the waiter brought the sling or high chair. I feel that it is rude or distracting for someome to put the carseat on the table. I know that it is a baby, but they are like you said in these big bulky carseats that sometimes are dirty on the bottom; however, if you have no other options then ok I do agree that putting a baby in a swing, jumparoo, playmat, etc is fine as like someone said as long as it is in moderation. You cannot have physical interaction with ur child 24/7 or you house would be a wreck, you could not take a shower, or used the restroom. Believe it or not some of these toys can produce needed skills for a baby such the playmat and jumparoo, it develop mucsles in the legs, arms which helps prepare their bodys to crawl and walk. There are other toys that develop their since of sound, sight, smell, touch, and stimulates the brain with colors and shapes. I know things are sometimes done differently that they use to, but sometimes change can be good. Don't get me wrong i'm old fashion in some areas, but their is alot of things that are out now that are good for a baby's developement. For example let a child watch a movie (educational, spiritual, those type of things are great), but your child also needs to go out side and play and not become a couch potato. There are also videos out now that help stimulate the brain with slow movements of shapes, color, and sound. I personally have used every tatic that i have spoken of including one on one interaction with your baby and my toddler using crafts, music, free play, structured play and i feel that ALL of the personal contact or non contact have help my children with their skills. I know that to some they would say that im young and only 28, but i feel that i to a great job at being a mother. It is true that everyone is entitled to raise their children in the way that they feel is best. I do somethings like my parents did and other things i do my way and that is perfectly fine. Im very long windy, so im going to stop now. Thanks

Feeding babies foods too early can lead to food allergies. That is what the above poster is reporting. Feeding strawberries/chocolate etc at very young ages leads to food allergies as adult and make make it so they can enver eat them. So don't feed them adult foods, especially not commonly allergic foods till a later age.

To each their own in my opinion!! I use the bouncy seat, and the swing and the infant carrier. I've never put my child on the floor at a restaurant NOR have I ever seen anyone else do that either(what state do you live in??). The carriers are either on the table, on the chair next to them or in the booth. But I did reserve time each day a couple times a day, for my son to do tummy time. But I'm not going to strap my child to me 24/7 because that's what my mom/grandma did. It's a new time and a new era and we are all entitled to raising our children as we deem fit for us!! We all turned out ok when our parents did that too!

Baby food - fact or fiction?

My baby boy, Jack, did not smell funny when I switched him to baby food either. That's weird... We also tried rice cereal and it was horrible. It make him so constipated. Our ped changed us to oatmeal and it's so much better!! I make my own baby food as well. So easy and cheaper than the jarred stuff! If you have a blender, you can make your own! You can google homemade baby food and lots of sights come up. My 8 month old LOVES cauliflower!! He can't get enough. Most kids don't get introduced to cauliflower ever. He also eats broccoli. My ped loves that I'm giving him veggies that WE would eat!! Not just corn and green beans.

It's definitely rewarding!! Good Luck!

One item said it wouldn't be available in the store for 21 to 24 days.

Two of them came, two days later on the truck.

Sometimes, good things do happen in the inventory supply chain.

I used to work at sears and almost anything big you want is on backorder. It was frustrating for me because I missed out on a lot of commissions on things people were going to order and couldnt unless they wanted to wait. Wouldnt purchase any big products from Sears online... go into the store and see what is in stock.
