I would see if the condenser is laying on the floor and causing the noise to vibrate through the house. If the floor is not level and the fridge is sitting low the tubing can make an anoying sound.

Sounds frivolous, because it is to say the least. Think about it though, replacing the board, telling the person to buy a MPA, to cover future prognotic failures which will persist has has no immidiate remedy to design or impedance of that transformer. You can't sit there and explain all this to the victim. The question is sarcasm, clearly, but a real issue in which it almost forces the sale of a MPA agreement.

on an ice maker (under the counter) a transformer is reading 28 Volts to a low voltage board that has burned out transistors. The unit is approximately 10 months old and under warrenty. The technician replaces the board, and explains how the transformer has caused the short and points out the oder from an exagerated heat source (the transformer). Both parts are under warrenty; however, the board is only covered because the transformer isn't failed to an open curcuit. How can sears sue the manufacture?

HVAC uses Puron but the refrigerant has a significant higher head p.s.i.than that ''light green'' bottle. R-12 has been replaced with 409A as an insufficient drop in gas (my opinion) because Hot Shot requires no oil change. 502A meets freezer quality loads but that subject has died from lack of oxygen and not one more breath is being waisted on anything less than alternative. 2010 has passed people and the phase out is underway for R22 while new technology surpasses efficiency based on old engineering data. In regards to household domestic refrigeration there can really be an effective change in quality with a dual refrigerant allowing saturation tempuratures to meet the demand of both storage areas; however, that chemistry is for YWHW. In commercial refrigeration a medium temp box has fans that run all the time, while a freezer walk in box implents a shut down defrosting period. So, its really a balancing act to preserve not only the food but the milky oil too. This is why we need energy star ratings... Adding on a TEC or TEM in the walls of the refrigerator could be the new salvation.

The problem Suzswe, is your lack of faith in a valued product. Bottom freezers really do stress the point of operation on fan performance. I'm taking a wild stab at your post simply by saying ADT. Unplugging your machine for 24 hours simply allows the proper time for oil migration. Nobody can achieve consistency this way in regards to great refrigeration! What the technician did was start on the right track but ran from the train... Adjusting defrost parameters might help because they are subjective for every unique product placement; however, the manufacture often specify's the terms in a laboratory. Sounds like your box is pretty hot Suzswe and she's loosing the adequate subcooling needed to keep the oil ''free'' flowing. Anyway, there are remedy's to this from a service standpoint; yet, engineering the same design will only result in further putrification... good luck, ask for tech 903278.

Hello,

Our bottom-freezer trio's interior lights (in the refrigerator section) are staying on even when the doors are closed. When depressing the two switches near the top of the side-by-side doors, the lights stay on and GET HOT. However, the digital temp display and refrigerator continue to cycle.

I've seen that several other folks have been taken care of with respect to this issue. I'm surprised that there hasn't been a recall.

In this age of the internet, any company that does not address consistant problems like this, are doomed to go out of business. I just scheduled Sears to come out and fix my refrigerator because the interior lights are staying on and have melted the housing. A search of Sears refrigerator reviews shows thousands of complaints. If I had known this I would not have purchases from them. Sears: get this problem fixed or close down your business !

Sounds like a defrost problem to me, by turning off the unit for 24 hours the evaporator will self defrost. then the Fridge will work for a couple months until the evaporator freezes up again. Since changing the control board did not solve the problem it is probably the defrost termination thermostat that is the problem. you did not leave a model number so it is hard to give more than a guess as to the problem.

You may be having the same problem that I did...the switch that turns the light off in the freezer would not shut off...so the fan that moves the air into the refrigerator would not kick on. My freezer worked great...was turning out ice cubes really fast! But the refrigerator didn't get cold. My sears repair man temporarily fixed it...by putting a piece of duct tape on the switch so it would not come on...you might try that and see if your refrigerator works again when it happens next. I got a new Kenmore...but then the freezer didn't work right! After going through 3 kenmores...non worked right...I have a new Samsung ordered!

Kenmore model 795 icing in freezer

Your refrigerator has a water leak that goes into your foam between refrig and freezer. As the problem progresses your ice maker will go out, your door alarm will starting ringing for no reason, your freezer is not the right temp etc etc etc.
I had this problem and after a year of "fix-its" Sears finally replaced the whole thing.
Went to the Samsung and LOVE IT.

Sears corporate informed me there is a known "Service Flash" regarding this problem, meaning they repair it at their expense. It's like a recall except instead of them taking the item back, they come out and repair it for you.
