Kenmore 18 inch dishwasher problems

I am trying to find out if the Kenmore dishwasher I purchased in 2008 is a lemon or is it typical of what to expect from Sears Kenmore appliances. I am about to call for service for the third time since purchase and for the second time in two weeks.

The first service was about six months after purchase to replace a faulty water pump. Two weeks ago, a busted water line was replaced ( I live in a condo and water leaked from my unit to other units. Also, I now have a mold problem under my cabinets).

Now water is pouring out towards the front of the unit.

The amount I was charged for service is about 2/3 the cost of purchasing a new dishwasher. Should I just plan on buying a new dishwasher every two years or is this just a bad unit?

Go to the bottom of Sears.com home page, hover the pointer over Sears web sites, and then click on Manage My Life. Ask the same question including full model number, and a Sears expert will answer. I viewed a few question/answer of different models than yours, and they mentioned abnormal wave action caused by stalled or cracked spray arm, etc.

As it is only 6 months old it should still be covered under warranty and any attempt to repair it other than 'through Sears' will likely void the remaining warranty.

Model 655.13933k010

This unit is only 3 months old and has been working fine until this week. Now it has started leaking out the front of the door on both sides. The padding on the inside of the door is also wet on the bottom and up about 6 inches. The water hose connections underneath are all dry. Any ideas how to fix this leak?

I can call Sears, but it sounds like many here aren't getting anywhere with Sears' Service.

Thanks in advance. Tom

There is a mini manual in a small plastic pouch on the back side of the bottom toe panel, It has a list of the error codes and the possible problem, be sure you put it back after you use it It is important information and you don't want to loose it.

I just read on a kenmore forum with someone having the exact same problem and tried the the exact same thing to reset it and no luck. I guess from what the expert said is that it sounds like your control board is bad and you will need to replace it. You can find a new one on searspartsdirect.com and have it sent to your home for installation by you, which should be fairly easy. Hope this helps!

On the newer models you pick any three buttons/ except start or cancel/stop. Press them in the same order 3 times. left to right press 1,2,3/1,2,3/1,2,3. if the buttons are on top close the door within 3 seconds you should see all the light come on steady, then it will run a self diagnostic, It will take several minutes /None off you have posted your model 3's, My-remarks are for Kenmore/Whirlpool/Kitchenaid. These three products are the same basic units the names have been changed to confuse everybody.

Hi bobmaddo, this was andswered by a Kenmore expert and should work. Please let us know if you ned anything else and have a great day! :)

You will have to reset the console. To do this, close the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash

-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If its the type where the soap dispenser and rinse aid dispenser are all in one box at the top of the door (you didnt say what your model number is and i cant see from here) the only thing you can really fix is making sure that the fill cap isnt leaking.Other than that the only real service is to replace the dispenser box.

I'm replacing my 19 year old Frigidaire with a Kenmore 665.13832600. What parts will I need to have on hand for the installation?

My neighbor recently installed a Whirlpool 1055 dishwasher and needed to cut and splice a new pipe into the one coming from the wall because they were different sizes. She also told that I'd need an electrical cord that has wires on one end and 3 prong plug on the other end. I want to make sure I have all the parts on hand for the installation.
