Current Sears Employee Attitudes

My answer in repsonse to a Sears employee explaining that a new customer is to be treated the same as a 25+ year customer. I hope all the long-term loyal Sears customers and someone in upper management read this one:

"That sounds good if you're a new customer, not so good to a faithful customer of 25 + years. Every customer should be treated fairly...that's a given. It's not the level of service I am disagreeing with you on, it's the level of respect and attention. That is, repeat customers, those who long ago made and kept the company a going concern, through good times and bad, and who made it possible for you to obtain gainful employment before you were probably born, should be treated as an uncle or father in the Sears family. I'm not talking about playing favorites, rather about longtime customer respect and loyalty. Long-term, repeat business is the lifeblood of a retailer; that's a reality in life. The $25,000 spent years ago is worth far more then $50,000 today, due to the time value of money and going concern concepts. Loyalty is a quality that cannot be exerted from a brand new customer; the new customer deserves excellent service, which in turn will make them a long-term repeat buyer who will then expect and deserve your loyalty, just as you will deserve theirs. It's a symbiotic relationship. Get it? If not, read up on Customer Relationship Managment, Peter Drucker, and Michael Porter (Harvard Business School: Five Forces Model, Competitive Advantage, Competitive Convergence, Efficiency Frontier). I have."

If it had been one mistake then I would agree and I wouldn't have taken the time to post more than once--though I appreciate your opinion on the matter & you taking the time to read each of them.

It was an entire page of similar products--all similarly priced. Not one thing priced in err.

I am quite sure if you had a large sum of money removed from your account and had the place of business call you to confirm your order--you would also expect to receive the order. This wasn't a typical--price err.

Thanks for the feedback--just warning others that don't already know the legal precedents as you do.

Pretty much every online shopping site has the right to refuse to honor a price that was published in err. The same goes with advertising for brick and mortar, there's actually a legal precedent stating this. No one entity is expected to be perfect, nor are they expected to suffer losses due to this mistake. I'm sorry to hear about your situation and no one should have been rude to you because it is unfortunate, but not uncommom when it comes to online shopping sites. And I know you're upset, but one post probably would have been adequate. Have a good one.

BEWARE BUYING SALE PRICES THRU SEARS!

I just spent an hour on the phone with 3 different managers and received three different excuses as to why my order was cancelled that I placed onlined at sears.com.

1st excuse--product was damaged

2nd excuse--product out of stock & would not be restocked

3rd excuse--sorry, price error. We won't sell it to you for that price so we cancelled your order.

This after I placed the order, they took the money from my bank account, called me to verify the order, and sent me a conformation! They didn't call to tell me they were cancelling--they just cancel with no reason--make me call to find out why--incredibly rude on the phone- and their solution to fix my inconvenience... free shipping on my next order!!!

WHY WOULD I CONSIDER ORDERING FROM THEN WHEN THEY DON'T HONOR THE PRICES THEY HAVE LISTED???

I was told to refer to the terms & conditions--interesting read. Come to find out, they don't have to honor ANY order if they say it is a price error! I can assure you I will not be wasting my time shopping their website in the future--their prices are TBD--management has no power to assist with anything other than "Free Shipping" and the majority of them are completely rude.

POOR SERVICE---AND THEIR PRICES ARE HIGHER THAN MOST OTHER SITES ANYWAY SO IF YOU'RE GOING TO BUY ELECTRONICS, CHECK OUT ETRONICS, GEEKS, OR ONE OF THE OTHER SITES THAT ACTUALLY HONOR THEIR PRICES!!!!!!!!

Microwave Repairs

Going on 10 days ago I took my microwave into the Barton Creek Store in Austin Texas. This was after I had scheduled in home service twice and the technician did not make it. This is also after I called and got India twice and spent between 20 and 30 minutes each. I was told that the Barton Creek and Hancock stores had repair centers. I found out when I got there that they did not. When I took my microwave into the Barton Creek store I was told that it would be shipped to San Antonio and would take a few days before someone could call to tell me how much it would be. On my ticket they said it would be back by the 22nd. It is the 21st and I have not had a call. When I call I get customer service in India who has no idea where it is and can not give me a contact name or number. They have told me more than once that someone from the service center will call me back and to stay near the phone....no return calls. I have had Sears credit since the early 70ies and am ready to turn it in until customer service comes back to the US.

Hi All, Glad to see people showing kindness at this time of economnic uncertaininity(siclol) I buy the prefilled shopping bags at Krogers that are donated to feed the hungry. They are stapled shut and different amounts on the bag so me being me opened one of the $25.00 one's and asked the manager to add some more items as they were on sale and items in bag didn't reflect sale prices.LOL She agreed and put in $10.00 more items in bag! May not seem like much but to someone with nothing IT'S a BIG deal. I also donate to the Mozel Sanders annual Feed everyone Thanksgiving Meal in Indianapolis if your in Indy your welcome to help! God bless to everyone and To OUR TROOPS in Harms way ......Dice......
