How many of you shop on the actual Black Friday?  Do you do this to get the deals or to get  your shopping done quickly?

How about those who work on Black Friday? Do you look forward to having a super busy day and the anticipation of the holiday season?  If you have worked in retail for awhile, do you find more shoppers are taking advantage of the deals now, as opposed to prior years?

I get to work that day but I think we plan on shopping when I get out of work since I work right behind the mall :)

I've learned (through painful experience) not to "greet" when the doors first open on Black Friday.

Oh!

And, don't leave any shopping carts outside in the parking lot the "night before".

Way more people than just 3 died on Black Friday last year. In fact, every day, literally tens of thousands of people die! :)

Some ones life was ended because of another persons rush to buy an ipod for half off. Try and make that funny

It is not funny. It is very sad that someone was  trompled to death because of some stupid sale.

,  every 4 seconds someone dies in a car crash every 2 seconds someone dies of natural causes. 30,000 peoples die each year  from the seasonal flu   Over 2,420,000* die in america alone.  lets  not talk about death  on black friday. or else you will have to look at the truth.  you sound like a downer

each year,  I shop at black friday   for mostly  the  deals, and  to get  some of my christmas shopping  done for my family relatives  and friends. so it's a mix of both finding a  good deal is great for the holidays, and alot easier.   when compare  to doing shopping at the last minute

I use the full weight of a 4 cash register island to shield myself from the initial surge of Customers rushing into the store.

Or, take the honorable way out, and hide back in the warehouse, until the Sana-mi of Customers has occurred...

I wonder who is going to be out on the floor, helping Customers, now that Cashiers are not allowed to ring up under Sales Associates numbers?

So youre saying ones persons life is meaning less when compared to 30000 others? Id like to see you tell that to the mom who lost her kid at walmart after being crushed to death by the automatic doors.

Well let's all stay safe when out shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. I don't usually make it out until later in the weekend since I have so much to do after entertaining 25 people until midnight or so the night before. But I'll keep an ear out for your big finds!

I agree with Michelina that hopefully after the experiences previous years all will be safe this year.  I have never and will never go shopping on that day because of the rush, crowds, parking problems, etc.  I do not think any sale is worth that.  I have found that a few days before Christmas has some great sales too.  I guess that might make me a type of procrastinator for buying gifts, but it seems the crowds are much less then:)

Are there any Black Friday sales previews out yet?  I want to see what they are offering on Washer/Dryers

Theres always the washer and dryer sets for half price but if last year was any indication you wont get yours till this time next year.

I typically work on Black Friday so the idea of waking up at 3am to wait outside a store until it opens and than going to work a 10 hour shift just does not interest me at all.

Hmm--Thanksgiving- perhaps the real meaning has been lost in favor of greed & getting the best deal?! Sharing and helping out the less fortunate and in these times there are many. Giving back --donate your time at the local food pantry or community service. I hope you all get the deals your looking for.

I LOVE working Friday!  There is no worry about getting tasks done or deadlines or big projects.  You're there for one perpose only and that it to make sure everyone finds what theyre looking for.  Nothing quite like the feeling you get after someone thanks you with that enthusiasm, like you made their entire Holiday.  In a world were your job is thankless.  It gives you just a little bit of satisfaction, even just for the day.  The days following Chirstmas is another thing entirely......returns, grumpiness.....erk.

SHC-StaceyW - what a great comment! Thanks for sharing... I imagine the day in the stores is frenetic but what a great attitude! I've not been at SHC yet for a holiday season and I'm looking forward to the ride.

I like the really busy retail days.

More sales, practically no returns.

Very few tool exchanges, too.

People are just there to BUY new things...
