I have cable internet access and the latest GPL (General Public License) version of Flash installed in Firefox on the "Ubuntu" distribution the Linux operating system.

I haven't had too much of a problem with some other sites using Flash, such as You Tube. However, Sears isn't the only site where sometimes there's a problem with Flash.

The more I use this new feature the less interesting it seems. For starters, the images are quite low in quality or don't give me much to desire in terms of resolution. I typically end up going to the product page to see the detailed full size image instead.

The motion of the plates going across the page is just so-so. I am still having trouble understanding how this tool can enhance the customer experience. Also I am skeptical that users will install flash for this tool either. Perhaps an ajax based method of scrolling through products is a more advantageous.

Hmm...I am so surprised it isn't working properly for you! Do you have dial-up or DSL?

Of course, you are the target audience! Anyone who uses a computer on a regular basis that is interested in seeing the deals that are important to them is the target audience. Who doesn't want to see customized deals on your favorite products?

No matter how long I wait -- ten to fifteen minutes -- nothing displays.

In addition, the e-mail ads I always get from Sears now are exhibiting a problem: when I clock on the ad to go to the Sear site I'm greeted with blank areas in the screen as well.

... another heavy sigh ... I tried the link you posted ... just a big blank area in the middle of the page ...

At least the Sears logo at the top of the page displayed ...;)

This is similar to a problem I've had trying to view Craftsman Club flyers on line ... or even to view *any* Sears catalog online -- nothing shows.

Bob,

This will allow users to customize how they view all of our advertised items. You can specify if you only want to see Home Electronics, Lawn & Garden and Tools. Click on a department, and then when you highlight it, you can click Edit to narrow it down even more. Adjust pricing, brands etc. Or leave everything selected and see all our printed ads in once place vs. having to go to 3 or 4 books, scans etc.

Do you happen to be using Chrome? If so try FF or IE, I think this is a known issue and is being worked on for Chrome.

Could that Flash graphic be repurposed into a GIF, for use on all the store servers?

That would be "entertaining", while waiting for the store server to DO SOMETHING!

I found the Corel "hour-glass" animated icon fun to watch, also.

We could not redo it as GIF too many dynamic moving parts. Are you having this issue on the intranet or are you coming from outside the sears network? I ask because I have issues once and a while going inside to the experience

I too am a "Geek" used to develop software for ICBM's, but unfortunately in order to make this experience we had to use flash. However, there are things being worked on internally that may help with your pains. Stay tuned!
