As a military wife and a veteran myself. I sadly have to agree. The greed on this site is disgusting. The most dangerous job in the US is that of a fisherman! Soldiers aren't even in the top ten. My husband is enduring one of multiple deployments at present. We DID sign up for this. I get tired of the bitching as well. There is a definite sense of entitlement. P.S. no soldier has fought for "our freedom" since WWII, tired of hearing that as well. We lost close to 500,00 US troops in less than four years back then. Having them gone is hard, but, it could be much worse. Thank god we have stateside R&R, Skype, awesome technology, great pay, are not having to be rationed necessities, and work in factories! We have TONS to be thankful for!

Kimmie, how did you LOSE $2000? With your DLA, TDY, etc...your move was MORE than covered. This is a first serve, first served program. Maybe you need to sit down with finance, not Sears.

Just wanted to say thanks to Sears HAH for making Christmas for us this year. We were only planning on being home as our presents but this helped us get the few things our daughter really wanted & was well worth the look on her face not only getting a few special things, but to be back in Indiana with family instead of 1500 miles away in Texas. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and hopes everyone will have a great New Year as well.

Congratulations! You have been accepted to the Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry SM program!

I received an email like this... confirmation number and all, we were really looking forward to it but never received anything. I sent an email to them and never received anything back. Very disappointed as it certainly would have helped, if the intent was to never send anything then why send an email saying congratulations. I am not done with this one yet... but for those who didn't registrar in time don't worry you didn't miss anything but a disappointment.

I am just so dissapointed how this programm was run this year! First we were accepted in the Programm, and got reasured about 10 times when called. Had to call because some CSR put the Email adress in wrong. Then after still not recieving the GC , i called them Friday last week again and they told me same old story..we resubmit it and you should get your card within 2 hrs if it doesnt come, call back tuesday. Well this Tuesday i call them and what do they tell me . we are denied due to lack of funds ! First approved for a month and then shortly denied ? Please Sears work this problem out! I will have a Christmas regardless but everyone would like the little extra help! Thank you tho for all the Donators to help some families. Maybe some CSR would like to get in touch with me , as they wont answer any of my emails or answer questions on the phone ..only read their scripts

hi my anme kim and i have three kids and one as autism.we move here for alaska and from moving from thier we lost about two thoundsands dollars.my husband stationed at fort carson but we dont live on post.so ever thing is more off post like rent.we just to not the for christmas by the time we pay all are bills and by food.i real would like my kids to have a good christmas.i now what it is like to go with out for christmas.so if i could get that i would real be great ful for it.

I haven't and haven't recieved any other information since the initial congradulations e-mail. Remember though that they have a lot of gift cards to disburse so it may take all day to send out all the e-gift card information to everyone. If tonight you still haven't heard anything you can e-mail them at heroesathome at sears.com (make sure to provide the name, phone number of the soldier as well as the ID# sears put on the congradulations e-mail). You may also call them mon-fri 9a-6p CST at 1-800-416-9501. I hope this information is helpful. God Bless and have a great day :-)

Thanks for the info, when hubby gets home I will ask him about those places as he is more familiar with the base than I am. I love sears and k-mart clearance especially during friends and family events.

Did you guys check the AER on post? Army Emergency Relief or Navy. any of your MWR (morale, recreation and welfare) buildings should have flyers about Christmas plane on the base, although they are few, I know. For clothes, I know of 3 places depending on your installation. The thrift store, the consignment store, and the "friendly exchange" which is free based on what was given to them. you do not have to live in base housing to get it but you must have a valid military green or blue ID, or a dependent or disabled vet pink ID.

KMART IS CHEAPER THAN THE PX OR BX. For the same kind of stuff!!!

Hi, no problem at all. I know what you mean when you say you need clothes for the kids, our daughter just had a growth spurt and it seems very little fits her now. This couldn't have come at a better time. I agree this is a blessing, thanks to all who have or who wiill donate and thank you to sears for having this wonderful program. Thank you for posting this! I can't believe that when I cleaned up my yahoo email I deleted it!!!!!We really did need the help for christmas and we just really need clothes for the kids too, so this is a true blessing to have!

Unfortunately, my hubby didn't find out about this until the registry had already closed. However, I hope the individuals who did receive them enjoy the gift cards. For those who have complained, remember Sears doesn't have to do this for us. In fact, complaining may make them reconsider ever doing it again, so please think of that when you're sounding off.

For those who don't live the military life and think the soldiers and their family's don't deserve it, you may be misinformed. We don't live in the lap of luxury and not everything is free for us when our spouses are active. We constantly worry about our spouses when they're gone and pray for their safe return. Our children pine away for their missing parents and are stressed out as well, especially when they aren't there for childhood milestones and family holidays.

Please don't think we're all a bunch of malcontents because of a few dumb posts on this forum- which may not have been written by military spouses anyway- they could have been written by people who just wanted to make us look bad.

Thank you Sears for going the extra mile and making 25,000 military households happier during the holiday season. ;)

Again, we thank you for your participation in the Sears Heroes at Home Wish RegistrySM. Feel free to call us at 1-800-416-9501 between 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. CST Monday through Friday if you have any questions. If you have any issues with your e-Gift Card, you must call this toll free number by February 28, 2011. We will not be taking any calls after this date for the Sears Heroes at Home Wish RegistrySM program.

The e-mail said that we would receive the gift cards by the 22nd because the first disbursement will be loaded on the 23rd. If you don't have it by then you're supposed to call. HTH :)
