We want to know how you save moolah (not the wrestler) or a few bucks (not deer). Do you close doors, turn off lights, buy Energy Star appliances? We're blogging about it on MySears > Blog > Hometown Stores.

I try to use hand tools, rather than energy grabbing power tools, when I can do the same quality job less power useage.

Did I mention having a working, hand-powered grinder?

@Shauna Moolah was an awesome wrestler :)

We try to not turn on the lights unless absolutely nessecary (such as at night), we also use reuseable shopping bags when we go shopping instead of getting plastic (we do pick up a few paper bags for recycling our newspapers)

We also switched to Seventh Generation brand dish soap which has earth friendly ingredients.

@Adam Those are great! I'm more a recycler (paper, plastic, glass) and big on turning off lights and keep doors closed. In the old days, I used to mow with a manual mower first, then an electric one. :)

@aynfarika I was a big fan of WWF growing up. :)

I'm trying to get my girls to turn off lights, not use a lot of running water, close the fridge. They do recycle paper and plastic. And, we share portions at restaurants because their eyes are bigger than their apetites. :)

We also have one of those low flow showerheads but for some reason it doesn't have a valve on it to stop the water flow (I think because it limits waterflow) you have to actually turn off the water (which can get really annoying turning it on and off again) but as long as we save water its all good :).

I turn the water on and off while brushing my teeth and rinsing dishes. It's extreme but I feel like it helps. :)

People think we are Amish. Have not had any Amish in my family for a few generations. We use an Aroma countertop range from KMart instead of a regular range.

No color TV, and no car for the past year, <drastic commitment to weight loss>.

but I have bought a jeep and will be getting a TV and new Washer from sears or sears outlet by Jan 6.

@houdiniphile very impressive and very disciplined. I have a car and didn't it much because I worked from home. Telecommuting helped the environment and my productivity. :)

When you're ready to purchase the TV and washer, let's connect. I can put in touch with the closest Sears Outlet or Sears Hometown Store or big Sears store.
