What kinds of pets do you have?

I have a 1 1/2 yr old male Shiba-Inu terrier mix named Gizmo (pic is my profile pic)

I also have an 8 yr old domestic femaleBengal breed cat named Nala.

We are deciding right now if we want to get another dog hubby really wants a Daschund we had one a couple of months ago but sadly he passed away last april after being mauled by a pit bull. We still miss him and are still looking for another :(

I just got a pug / chihuhua mix - His name is Brady and although he is 1 year old he has the sweetest puppy face. He looks like a puggle puppy - so cute!

I have a nearly 5 year old rat terrier named Little Man. We've had him since the day he turned 6 weeks old. I love my dog and I don't know what I would do if something happened to him! But I understand how you feel aynfarika. Little Man has gotten into plenty of fights and everytime he has had to go to the Vet. Just keep strong and keep looking for a new puppy! Best of luck! <3 BabyGirl1989

We have two brother and sister Yellow Lab littermates, around 8-1/2 years old.

They're due to "calm-down" anytime.

Nobody has told THEM, however.

We have two dogs (both left by young daughters who went off to college).  One is a black labrador named Chief after the KC Chiefs, and the other is a Japanese Shimu-itsu (not sure of the spelling but sounds like that).  His name is Chewbacca, although when he is good i call him chewie and when he is bad I call him the devil dog!!!  We had a cat named Jasper who was left by the youngest daughter when she went off to college, but she got him back after she graduated!!

Ours are staying with us.

So much so, that the female Lab LAYS on my wife's lap, to prevent her from abandoning the dog.

They've both got a little moody since our daughter went off to college.

She still visits home, so the dogs are pretty "confused" sometimes.

We do get the fantastic opportunity of "baby-sitting" with another group of pets (another dog and three cats) once in awhile.  Can you imagine the chaos, but we keep the all separated.  Let a dog in, let a dog out, let a dog in, let a dog out........lol I actually have that sign posted by the door.

Gizmo tends to chase Nala alot other than that they get along, as long as its on Nala's terms. The only time he doesn't chase her is at night when hubby and I are going to bed they actually lay next to each other on the bed. Can't get them to do that during the day for some reason.

OMG he is soo cute! I will see if I can get some more pics of Gizmo and Nala posted up tonight when I get home from work. Hubby and I went last night to Just Puppies to look at Daschunds we saw one but we are worried that Gizmo might not take to a 9 mo old puppy, we heard that Shiba-inus don't take well to same sex dogs or don't like them for some reason I don't know if thats true or not.

Yea he looks cute now but get him wet and he won't look at you or come around you until he is dry 4 hours later..lol He's my little Drama King.. As for Gizmo taking to a new pup in the house you might want to do some research on the web. ASPCA sites could maybe tell you or wikipedia could probably help. that site can tell you almost anything.. but ur always going to have to do some homework before u bring another dog or cat in your household.. it's just safer that way..

Oh I know we've had our 8 yr old cat since she was 5 months old, she was rescued from behind a bank building by my mom in law apparently she was the only surviving cat out of the litter of feral cats the mom and other kittens were hit by a car (so technically I am mom to her I bottlefed her since we got her). Introducing Gizmo to her that was a feat but because she had been around our 1st dog before it was much easier this time (they still have there "I am going to hiss and swipe at you" moments). I however have never introduced current dog to new dog before. I just like to be prepared I really don't want Gizmo to go bonkers and do something to the new one lol.

Yaa...

Our dogs always like being "introduced" to passing by visiting dogs.

You can hear them from ANY PLACE around the neighborhood.

That's a "friendly" bark isn't it?

Is the dog's tail wagging?

Don't count the female Lab's tail wagging.

She used to smile, just... before ambushing her brother!

They're just "play" fighting, right?

See any blood?

Nope.

They're just playing...

That seem's like a lot of money for a mixed breed

It was from a specialty breeder. Here in Florida the asking price from breeders for puppies are between $200-$800 depending on the breed.

That's just ridiculous! $450 for a mixed breed? Yall are high priced over there.. Here in Texas, nobody would buy a mixed breed for that much.. maybe $150. Breeders are...what word am I looking for? Ignorant? Egotistical? Yea I like egotistical better.. Breeders are egotistical weirdos. They think that because they have pure breds that cost, you know, about $500-$800 they can mix and match with other pure breds to get a mixed bred and sell it for the same amount.. It just ain't right and for me, It ain't gonna happen! But good luck on your puppy hunt aynfarika!! :)

On another note, who here has ever had a bunny as a pet? I've had two when I was 5 years old. But that's not what this is about.. I took a life this morning while driving to work. It was a hit and run kinda thing. I didn't even stop or look out my rearview mirror. I feel horrible. I HIT A LITTLE BUNNY RABBIT!!! I didn't mean to and it came out of nowhere and it was way too late to hit the brakes. I feel like a terrible person! :'(
