LockedWhy don't YOU shop at Kmart?

You used to go there all the time. What changed? Why don't you find yourself in the Kmart checkout lane as regular as before. Did you change or did Kmart change?

neither walmart showed up and was both cheaper and more often had what i wanted in stock

Actually cheaper to shop at Sears and not KMart for clothes.  Sears has 40 / 50% of clearance prices, Yeah, lots cheaper than KMart of Walmart and better quality.

hmmm not sure what walmart your at but the one heres always a better deal then sears even with my discount besides sears dosent carry the brands i like and its been so long i dont know if kmart still does or not

I wore uniforms to school, Yuk.  No back to school shopping. 

I got some real bargains on end of season bathing suits at sears.  Lost some weight and the two pluses made me feel good.

K-Mart has come up in the last 12 years, but I think they need to lower their prices a bit, to compare to Wal-Mart, and to get in the groove of things, and add more selection, as well as quaility.  (wash thier FILTY Carts, as they feel greasy and slimey when you touch the handles)  Once a month, wouldn't hurt!!!

the last 3 times i have gone to k mart at 23 and van dyke in shelby twp. there has been only 1 check out person . today there was 8 people in line and it wasn't moving so i left the stuff i was going to buy and went to meijers.

Only reason I go there is they have some special food things such as Jones Soda and Bimbo bread. I find it so surreal going in there as it's a vortex of depression. All the permanent surfaces (i.e not shelves) have a crack or a chip. There's a guy that will spend all day in the bathrooms every day with a bottle of apple juice (I HOPE IT IS APPLE JUICE) reading the bodice ripper/romance novels (he dresses somewhat out dated but normal, I've heard a rumor that he used to be a professor with tenure).

Dirty store, sale merchandise not in stock, messy aisles, poor cashier performance , grooming and attitude.  Horrible wait times in check out lines.

Before I was directed to this site, I thought it was a local problem with who does the hiring at our store.  I am shocked to learn the problem is at all stores.   Dig deeper to figure out why your cashiers are so poor at thier jobs.


Maybe put a couple extra on each shift to lighten the burden and they may actually TRY to check folks out efficiently?  Right now you always have the impression they are trying to go as slow as possible so thier shift ends before the line does! 

 Even if the price is right - my time is more valuable than to even enter K-marts door.  So sad.

I am making an effort to shop at K-mart.  It has ties to Michigan and anything I can do to help the economy here has to be done.

K-mart and Sears both are involved with Scrip programs.  (Non-profit groups benefit by selling gift cards.  i.e. churches and private schools)

 It's not like I'm missing out customer service doesn't seem to be offered at any of the discount stores.

Anything NOT to add to the profit of Wal-mart!  Wal-mart makes me sick!  The unfair way the employees are treated. etc.  (Check out the "The cost of Low Prices" documentary.

I am wearing a shirt that I bought over a year ago from K-mart.  I get compliments all the time because of it.  The color has barely faded.  It is like a secret boutique, because K-mart isn't the popular store for clothes shopping.

If I'm not shopping there a lot, it's because with this economy ~ We don't have money to spend.

as opposed to the wonderfull min wage and no benfits  that sears employess get while hocking 3rd world wares?

K-Mart and Sears are JUST AS BAD as Wal-Mart when it comes to employee relations - they merely didnt receive the same type of media/public attention that Wal-Mart did.

I myself have worked for Sears and I know wal-mart employees personally. 18-hour work weeks, no benefits, management that treats employees like swine, etc. The only difference is that the hourly wages at Wal-Mart are often slightly higher then those at Sears/KMart.

K Mart used to be my favorite store but now most of the customer servie staff is really rude & I don't care to treated with disrespect.

I meant Customer Service Staff, they act as if they are doing you a favor to talkto you when I asked for astore manager noone was contacted * I was treated very rudely. Make a report & was sent a $5.00 gift card not worth my time to drive there to ex[erience the same unprofessional rudeness. My money will spend anywhere. K Mart is not what it used to be and you have some very rude & racist employees. Sloppily dessed, nasty, rude & totally out to lunch, both Blalck & White emplooyees they do not support the cashier staff when there are problems at the register. I have no intentions of shopping there again if I do its only to use the "forced" upon me gift cards or I will give them to some one else so I have no reason to go there. Your stores & the employees are pathetic.

As a Michigander myself, I  too have made a concentrated effort to shop Kmart these past few years, and agree that Walmart is the LAST place I would go for anything due to their horrible business practices.  I even switched over my prescription from Rite Aid and appreciate the $1 add on's like ibuprofen-you can't beat that!  The Kmart in my city is large, updated, well-stocked, and well-staffed, so why would I go elsewhere?  My sister lives in Oxford, and I know your store is quite small.  I think Kmart should commit to a total makeover of ALL of their stores if they really want to be a major player in the retail ballgame again.

The only thoughts I have are EVERY time I went in to Kmart. Service sucked and there were alot of price problems. Just to find the price on some things was a major task. and of course when you went to ask someone. Service sucked. I don't think this is the direct fault of the employees. I think this starts from the top. Look at Costco. They treat their employees well, in turn the employees treat the customers well. When are major corporations going to understand this simple fact!? I shop at Publix over Winn-Dixie and Albertsons mainly because their employees provide good service. #1 the stores are closed on major holidays. I tell my wife if we don't have everything on those holidays, we just do without! If you can't plan ahead that far DON'T patronize a company that more or less forces there employees to be at work while the higher ups enjoy the day with their families. SELFISH! I love Sengal's(Costco CEO) response to a Deutsche bank analyst who wrote "Costco continues to be a company that is better at serviing the club member and employee than the shareholder". Sengal's response was "You have to take the **** with the sugar" Sengal said "We think when you take care of your customer and your employees, your shareholders are going to be rewarded in the long run". (NOV 2003 Fortune magazine) These corporations need to look at Costco and stop being so GREEDY!

The K-Marts in our area have be closed.  I found them to be depressing and dirty.

I have never been in a KMart that is "Dirty".  I have been in many from here in Michigan to Saratoga Springs and different spots in the country. Obviously someone is having a bad day:-)
