I like the B&D cordless (12 volt) nail gun for trim etc. I installed all new base boards and crown molding in my home. (all rooms 2000 sq ft). You should have two batteries though. I t may be worth buying a warranty even though I don't like them.

Some nail guns do not require an air compressor. They use fuel cells instead of air. There are no hoses to trip over or to get snagged. The type of fastener and the size of it can be determined by many different factors. It all depends on what you are doing and how well you want to do it.

Do you have an air compressor?

Nail guns take different size nails. "pin nailers" use small nails that are as thin as the pins used in sewing. "brad nailers" use thicker nails adequate for 1/4 inch plywood. "framing nailers" use the thickest nails. Each type of gun holds a range of different lengths. What you must decided upon is the diameter of nail that you want.

Yes which nail gun would you suggest for a woman? I want to use it in 1/4 plywood and other stuff. Does a small one have different size nails I could use or do the small ones only come with small nails?

air compressor

Oiless or "self destruct" compressors are really not bad compressors if treated properly. If an oiless compressor is not broken in properly, the rings when new are under pressure, and blow holes in them. This causes extra heat build up inside of the compression chamber which can cause problems. Also since oiless compressors have mroe friction they can not ever be plugged into an extension cord. I have followed all of these rules with mine, and it runs more often than the average homeowner would run it. So far it has lasted 8 years with no signs of failure. Two Stage oiless are even better since each piston does half of the work. Oil compressors are better compressors if treated right, sadly many homeowners do not maintain the oil, and they become much more dangerous than oiless, they are also usually more expensive to purchase.

Check the compressor's quick-connect female coupler.

Sometimes they stick open, fresh out of the box.

Just a gentle push inward should fix her right up...

I recently purchased a Craftsman 20 gallon vertical air compressor. Upon my first-time use I noticed that after the tank is filled to 150psi and the regulator is set to about 100psi the regulator leaks. The only way I can get it to quit leaking is to turn up the pressure to the maximum or equivalent to tank pressure. Does anyone know if this is normal operation or did I get a lemon?

Some "soapy water" will help find the air leak.

Once in a while, the metal tube develops a crack in it - a fairly straight forward repair, similar to installing a new air regulator.

Have you ever drained the moisture from the tank? I agree with ww, that it sounds like the regulator. You may also want to replace the regulator (relatively cheap, and they're available at your local Sears, though you'll want to check for fit). Be sure to use teflon tape to seal the threads airtight to prevent further damage by moisture and air.

This brief description is indicative of some type of minor regulator failure. There should be a quick air release near the on/off switch.

The valve being fetched up would be the simplest cause. Moisture can cause this. Jiggle the valve until it stops leaking.

If this is not the case, please continue to post.

Also, is it still under warranty?

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help.

We have a 50l Performance Power air compressor which, up until today,, worked perfectly. Now, when you turn it on and it fills itself up, as soon as it cuts off it starts losing all the air again straight away. Not out of the base valve though, but it seems to be out of the top bit (under where the on off button is)

Can anyone help at all please?

It is very important we get it sorted but cant afford a new one.

Thanks
