And perhaps that digit would not be saying that the manufacturer is number one????

Either that, or you better like what's on Channel 11. Ha ha.

Jokes aside, I'll see if I can find a way to show some pictures or video of this. I don't know if links will work, but this is what you can expect:

RazzyBluCru said…

Novel idea - I'd find difficulty with it if I made one of the motions by accident (while stretching, moving, or anything of the sort).

I'm kind of old-fashioned, I don't mind the remote...

I figure it would be like the Kinect, where you had to wave to get the TV's attention, and then you'd be given option to use hand movements.

The demonstration I saw at CES let you even get the TV's attention by saying, "Watch Me, TV", and then you could control the cursor with an open hand. The cursor wouldn't do anything until you made a fist on top of the icon you wanted to control.

I agree with you, accidental motions would be a bummer, but I think that logic would be built into the interface, lest everyone turns off the feature altogether. :)

I'm kind of old-fashioned, I don't mind the remote at all and figure if you were go with a hand signal type 'control', it'd seem more like a gimmick then a direction for the future. You have to make the hand controls quick/easy/simple while making it so that they aren't repeated accidently often enough to cause issues with the TV changing when not wanting it to. I don't know, would be cool to see at least :)

So turning on your TV, changing channels, increasing or decreasing volume by using your hands and motions may be somewhere in the future. Sort of like a Kinect (hand motions), rather than a remote control.

"Cool"? "Novel"? Or "Sort of"?

What would make that kind of interface really cool?

Sanyo now owned by Panasonic

In my 30+ years in the service department at Sears,we fixed millions of pieces of electronic equipment.A large portion of them were made by Sanyo Electric Co. of Japan. They were sold under the brand names "Silvertone", "LXI","Sears",and "Fisher".Some of these were cheap consumer-level stuff, though functional. But some were quite capable.I still have some Fisher stereo equipment from the 70s which works like when it was new and the 150 watt amp will shake the house if I want it to.And i use a Sanyo LCD HDTV almost daily, its like 4 years old and it has a stellar picture quality even though it doesnt have all the "hype" features the latest TVs have.

Getting to the point,I just found out today that Sanyo was purchased last year by Panasonic (sometimes known as Matsushita, also out of Japan).Panasonic is another company whose products I have always been satisfied with.(To be fair,I also have always been happy with electronic products I have bought made by Kenwood and Japan Victor (JVC) and Pioneer.) I think its important to give a thumbs up to quality,value-driven stereo equipment and to make a note of it when manufacturers have a merger or purchase of facilities.I will admit that its a shame we cannot claim much domestic production, but that is a whole nother story and will probably never correct itself.Mores the pity.

Goiing forward I would expect Panasonic/Sanyo products to be of respectable quality and excellent value.Dont know if they will be available at Sears or not,the huge marketing cooperation that they had in the 70s and 80s doesnt appear to exist anymore.Once again, mores the pity.

Just for your info, the model number of Sears equipment built by Sanyo always started with 564.If you have an old Silvertone or LXI stereo or TV you can check it out just for fun.

I purchased Zeepad tablet as a Christmas gift for my nephew. The unit will not charged I just got unit shipped back to me. Now after reading seller exchange/return policy it state that unit must be returned within 15days from delivery date. How is that possible if its a Christmas gift. I would've needed to send back on christmas.

We ordered a PS3 320GB Game Bundle for $299 on sears.com about a month before Christmas. Delivery was scheduled for December 16th-20th, but we could never find a tracking number. We called on the 20th and again on the 24th, with NO ONE in customer service able to help us or find it. They said they'd call or contact us in 5-7 business days (by now it's Christmas Eve and no longer helpful at all) and NEVER did. Worst Customer Service EVER!!! Oh yes...and on the 27th, it was noted on our online account as delivered and complete. We will NEVER order or buy from Sears again. What a headache!

We're terribly sorry to learn of your online order trouble. Especially this time of year, we know how disappointing this must be. Third party vendors can best be viewed as separate retailers that lease space to sell on Sears.com. We'd be happy to help you connect with the vendor and work on a solution. Please send us an email to smadvisor@searshc.com to the attention of Scott containing your screen name used here (aolear) & your contact information (preferably a phone number).

Thank you,

Scott J.

I ordered an ASUS netbook (307001041) on Dec 10, with the estimated in-store pick up projected to be 4 to 6 business days. As of today, the 10th business day, the order status remains 'Processing.' I sent an email query earlier this week, but got no response. Is this a case where the delivery schedule promise was simply inaccurate? Or has the order fallen through the cracks? It would be nice to know something before Christmas.

Buyer Beware - Don't order from 3rd party sellers. I've had better service from eBay!

I ordered 2- 7inch epad android 2.2 VIA8650 tablet pc 3.0MP Camera,Supports External 3G Modem+WIFI+RJ45+Two Point Touch Screen
Sold By: Green Vision on November 30 - Order Number 302400044 - Still not received it. Cannot reach vender via phone, mailbox is full. The phone number that sears gave me does not accept incoming calls. The postal tracking number 9101010521297097852874 shows "delivered", but all this means is that the post office received electronic notification that a label was created for shipping. Nothing was scanned through any postal office showing the actual route of the package, which is what you would see when the package is actually in route. If this is not met to my satisfactory I will NEVER SHOP SEARS OR SEARS.COM. Sears should screen their 3rd party sellers more carefully! AND I WANT MY FULL REFUND INCLUDING SHIPPING!!!
