Some times the customer will turn all the controls to off before the oven cools down, this will prevent the lock from cycling and opening the door. try putting the oven into another clean cycle. after about 1-2 minutes turn the cycle off before the oven has a chance to heat up.

What is the model number?
It could be that the thermal bi-metal opened (a safety device mounted on the back of the oven).

I had our oven door outer glass just shatter into little bitty pieces for no apparent reason on a 5 year old oven, Model # 790.47834400. We ordered a replacement glass and installed it on the oven door after we took the door off the oven and had it leaning against an end table, and within an hour, and before we even re-installed it into the oven, it just shattered again. Very upsetting to the wife.

What could be causing this, as the door doesn't look warped? Apparently SEARS doesn't sell a door intact with glass cover and so they are sending me a replacement glass. I don't want a repeat. Any ideas?

They can't get the top oven to work after 4 repair attempts. According to Sears, we'll need to replace the ovens with a different model (our model has been discontinued) and pay the difference in price. If we get a comparable model, we will have to spend an additional $1,500!! We bought this model last year at 50% off and Sears is only offering a 15% discount right now. We were inconvenienced for months and our reward is to spend almost double of the original purchase price. What a useless warranty.

I dont have any literature on these Canadian models,I'm assuming its a glass cooktop, but if the lite stays on all the time AND the element is completely off (i.e. ice cold) then on the comparable USA models, this is usually caused by a failed thermal switch. The repair requires disassembly of the cooktop.

Its not mind-blowingly expensive to have repaired (a couple hundred $US I would estimate) but if you are really frugal and careful to avoid getting burnt,I guess it wouldnt hurt to leave it unrepaired. That is gonna have to be your call.

The lite stays on all the time for only one of the 5 elements. It started intermittent and was sensitive to a cool dish cloth to get it to turn off. Then a bump or a slap would get it to go out. Now it is on all the time. Not a problem but just irritatingly.

Any one experionce this?
