Sandy - In addition to your 25% interest rate, don't forget that you also have the joy of a $50 annual greed fee added to your statement at the end of this month, complements of Sears. As you'll learn about on related threads, Sears is the only U.S. department store who's corporate attorneys wern't bright enough to look out for its customers and consumers when it came to protecting Citibank from gouging them with annual fees. Nice, huh?

I use my credit card for big purchases normally - I just used it to buy my mom a washer/dryer $1750 - I purchased some other things also. I got my bill and paid off the $1750 leaving a $124 approx on card -- to my surprise when I got my next statement there was a $27.04 finance charge on the card - I called and was told because I didnt pay off the whole balance - I was charged for the total average daily balance of 25.24% interest (by the way is criminal) -- if I had paid the complete balance - it would have incurred NO finance charges -- seems like a scam to me - consequently, my next step will be to cut all SEARs credit cards up and send them back to Hoffman Estates. My whole family for the last 50 yrs has been a believer in Sears and their products. Sandy Hinz

Read the change of terms and disclosure forms that Citibank sent out in September to all Sears Mastercard holders. The new rates (yes, the annual fees) don't start until January, dog!

If you can't find the notice, call 'em up and ask them. That's what they explained to me.

The new Platnum thing is a joke too, Same terms are the gold card, just some new gimmicks so they can tell you that you're "getting something" in exchange for the $50 annual account fee.

I never got a letter either saying there will be a fee come the new year. I don't remember getting the letter saying they were taking my intrest rate from 13% to the 24.99% they are charging now. I always paid my bill on line and they never e-mailed me the info, and on the online statement it had never given me tthe new intrest rate so it took me months to realize what Sears/ Citi had done. I'm sure they will be adding that fee to my account too. I have good credit, so there should be no issues with my account. They do keep changing the due date and this last month I was hit with a late fee since it was one day late since they changed the date again. My other credit card through RCU doesn't do this and my intrest rate from when I first got it has gone down to 8% now and it is a rewards card with no fees. I will no longer do any business with sears. They can say it's citi bank but it sears who doesn't switch banks. Sears has the power to tell citi to shove it and do what they want. But Sears doesn't care.

B of A goes to annual fees...

"Annual fees for credit cards are a rarity today, but more cardholders may soon have to decide between paying them or forfeiting their cards. Bank of America this week said it's "testing" annual fees of $29 to $99 on select customers starting next year."

The reality is it has annoyed others, and you can read their comments in the forums on credit card review sites. However, the other reality is not everyone was impacted. I was told it's a bit of a test, and only a certain segment of holders were impacted.

The most annoying thing to me is that they couldn't tell me for sure that I wasn't impacted. I don't believe I was, but I want to be sure I didn't misplace a letter. I'll probably cancel in December if they can't tell me for sure then. But, what can you do? People will speak with their cancellations.

Well, that's good. Does "No addtional cost" mean that this annual fee is going away? I'm not willing to pay $50 to get my credit score.

My Kohl's statement today (Chase Bank) had changed rates too - like the regulations you spoke of. There's no annual fee, though.....

I don't need no flexible financing - just a store card without annual fees. Do you people have that part fixed yet, or do you plan to accept Kohl's charge?

Hi MikeMechanic- At Sears, the customers' satisfaction is important and they have pledged to stand behind them now more than ever, in the face of recent legislative and regulatory changes (CARD Act and UDAP).

As a result of these new regulations, banks are making changes to their credit terms and conditions. Plus, many banks - including those that issue the Sears credit card - are making significant changes that will have a direct impact on all card holders including raising interest rates and lowering credit lines.

Beginning this fall, Sears pledges to offer cardholders more savings options, more benefits and more flexible financing. One important new-and exclusive-benefit to cardholders is the ability to get and track their credit score at no additional cost.

There was never a note telling me some new yearly fee is going to be added to my card. I told em if that happens I will just cut the card up. The dude culd care less! The supervisor was even worse..........Its like they just WANT me to close this account out. Anybody finding out the same thing?

Gulicious,

Yeah, that's right. Citibank has some great years ahead by gouging all Sears cardholders $50 annual greed fees. So tell me something, big Citi fan, will you be paying your annual fee in January on not (only by "Opting out" and closing your account)?

You state that Citibank is the "World's largest", and obviously the bank that Sears ought to partner with, no matter how poorly they handle Sears customers. Let's do a little present day fact checking on the latest "Worlds largest banks" assets:

1. Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, ICBC - Volume $277 Billion

2. Bank of America - (Yes, a US affinity card issuing bank) Volume $196 Billion

3. HSBC Holdings of UK (Yes, a US affinity card issuing bank) - Volume $177 Billion

4. & 5. - More Chineese banks (lots of assets & volume, but no US card services, so who cares....)

6. JP Morgan Chase (The largest affinity card issuer since MBNA & First USA Bank went under - This should be Sears replacement for Citibank) - Volume $160 Billion

7. Citigroup (Yes, last year they were #1, but since their garbage loans were exposed and Uncle Sam had to prop them up, so they've slid a little. New power strategy - regain #1 spot by charging annual greed fees to millions of Sears card holders) - Present Volume $141 Billion and falling

8. Wells Fargo Bank (Another good replacement candidate for Citibank) - Volume $112 Billion

9. - 12. - More foreigners who don't issue US affinity cards (yawn!!!)

OK, no further commentary on these statistics. Let the facts speak for themselves.

Sears,

Just another suggestion. I just purchased an Apple product, and they approved me for their affinity Visa Card, issued by Barclay's Bank. Guess what? No annual fee!

If a retailer the size of Apple finds Barclay's decent to work with and kind to their customers, how about replacing these dishonest and greedy Citibank folk?

Sears Cards

Touche, you got me there! I certainly can't match the amount of free time it would take to scour and visit 30 or 40 discussion sites to tally statistics on which contributor posts on 3 or 4 releated threads that refer to the same subject. When I retire in a few years, it might be a different story though...

Great to see you've got a competitive rate charge card. Me too. Bank of America issued an "Accolades" AMEX card, $50,000 credit line, 12.4% fixed interest rate, no annual fee, a universal VIP airline lounge membership valued at $450 per year, and usage "reward points" for merchandise, gift cards, or cash. That's all really wonderful, but not at all the point of my posts...

The simple point I tried to communicate is, if Sears has an affinity chage card available and promoted in stores to their customers, make it available with fair, honest, and competitve terms they can be proud of. Examine these 3 or 4 related credit card term discussion threads and you'll see a dismal response pattern to this challenge... "Well, all banks are doing this now, so just close the account and ask for private financing or layway gimmicks" Is that excuse for a tag line really what we're reduced to here, folks? Sears has to have more corporate muscle than this, don't they?

Even with a big bully in the sandbox like Citibank, just kick sand in their face!

lol i just want you to shut up and quit bumping 3 or 4 different treads just to say the same thing over and over.

and as far as citibank is concerend they can go fornicate them selves with a rusty railroad spike

also if you paid attention to the other threads, in fact i think its one of the ones your constantly bumping youd see i HAD a sears mastercard but they decided that they no longer wanted to let me have credit so being a mature resposible adult i paid the balance and took my business to anohter company that gave me a hihger limit at a better intrest rate instead of crying over it in 6 different forum threads on the same site
