Lockedwww.searscard.com is horrendous

The www.searscard.com website is horrible.  I was late on my payment not becaue of any of the reasons listed on the menu when I tried to paid online, but because the website is set up awfully.  If I could have paid when I set up my online account, I would have paid on time.  But I had to come back to the site another day to actually make a payment, so I forgot.  Then when I tried to pay the full amount online today after I got my late notice, it said it couldn't let me pay anything other than the minimum balance until after it checked my bank account details.  It is absolutely ridiculous that I should have to visit a website 3 times to pay my bill.  I have used a lot of other websites to pay bills online, and none have been as difficult to deal with as this one.  All other websites let you set up your account and pay your bill during the same encounter.  I hope that Searscard will get a clue and fix this.  Or maybe they're simply trying to make more money off of late fees.

I do not think Sears has anything to do with the credit card billing. It is a Citibank card.

Yeah, Sears does not provide the cards, they are serviced by Citibank, the same cornies that we just gave more money to because of their ridiculus subprime mortgage mess.  Here are a few examples of the great customer service that Citibank provides to Kmart and Sears customers:

An individual who has been a cardholder since 1970 and a loyal Sears and Kmart customer makes several purchases over the holiday season.  He is a loyal customer and cardholder who always makes his payments on time and pays of his balance every month.  In January 09 he receives a letter from Citibank saying that they are closing his account d/t an unfavorable rating. Mind you this person has a cerdit score of 750 and has always paid all his bills on time!  What  great way to build the business.

Another individual comes into Kmart and pays his balance on the 16th when it is due that day.  The next month the individual receives a late charge on his statement even though he paid it on the 16th at his Kmart store when it was due. He then calls Citibank and they rudely speak to him and do not reverse the charge even though he has proof that he paid it on that day with his reciept and even mails the proof and faxes it to them. Another great example of building the business.

Hi, sorry to hear about that. You should really contact someone in the customer service area of that website. We don't manage credit card accounts in this particular site, but I'll let the folks in our Credit Card group know about your experience in the meantime. Thanks for letting us know!

If the site "isn't good", come on in to a store.

We take all sorts of Sears card payments, all of the time.

If you pay by check, the processing is now done electronically - at any register.

You get your voided check back and your proof of payment receipt back, which we'll be happy to staple all together for you.

Now, THAT'S Service!

Purchased washer dryer in may on 12 months no interest no payments, citi said that night $45 would pay it off. so we did. No statements no calls, go to borrow money the other day, my credit is wrecked. had a 750 plus score, no more. Seems I liked $1.14 paying it off. late charges now and revoked my 12 moths, charged $170 interest. Citi says tough. Be aware , very aware.

Make sure you bring or know your account number or bring your card. I had a problem with that yesterday. My wife tried to make a payment and wasn't able to.

Really?

You can't make a payment without positive proof of account number accuracy?

Do other stores let possible strangers pay other people's credit bills?

Have no clue about other stores Adam, all I am saying is you better have the account number with you. What happened to me is a long story and is another story of calling Citi several times and being told different things each time. Again, not Sears fault.

Sears says in the stores that without having your account number with you (like having your actual card with you), they can't take a payment on your credit card account. The statements we get, for security reasons, do not have your complete account number on it. The associates say they have no way to pull up your account number. This is when you go to pay a Discover card statement at Sears as well. It gets lots of customers angy, but I'd rather have it that way than have my complete account number on the statement.

I wish somebody else would pay my bills! LOL! in fact, ROTFLMAO

What has happened to the Credit Card site in order to make a payment?  I have been scrolling through the menu for the past 5 minutes and is unable to locate the usual site to log in.  What do I do now in order to avoid late fees or finance charges to Sears?  What are you trying to do now  Sears?  Could you please have someone retract this menu and set it up so that it becomes feasible and easy to manipulate for the customers.  I will either pay in store, or kindly send me my statement. Thank you.

Pay in the store...

Great idea!

Bring your bar-coded statement or card with you to pay.

Less bank, more Sears.

A good thing.

Oh!

You can pay "with" cash, check or traveler's check at the register.

No debit card - credit payments, yet.
