I don't know if anyone has noticed a correlation of hot store with limited stocking.

But, the relation exists...

About the time Associates start getting dizzy is when physical activity in the stores really slows... down.

The store is pretty cool lately.

At the end of the day, on my way out the MPU set of doors, a blast of HEAT often hits me, on the long trek up the hill, to my car.

That there Chiller is do'n a good'ol job ToDAY!

The outside of our building looks much better, now that the doorway that got demolished by a run away car coming down the parking lot, has been replaced by a solid wall.

Only took a couple a months to get done (actual contractor work took 2 days).

The stores I've visited in California don't use true air conditioners.

Another cooling system, called a chiller is used.

Just like swamp coolers, chillers are very humidity level sensitive.

Unlike an air conditioner that cools, regardless of humidity levels inside and outside of a building, chiller performance varies with fluctuations in humidity levels.

The Sears in Marlborough Massachusetts always has a good temperature.

It's clean inside, but a real mess at times on the outside. Today the bathrooms were in good shape, this has not always been the case.

The staff is friendly and helpful.

Today the store felt ok but it still was incredibly humid inside. Many Many customer complaints and even less employee output. We need the air conditioning to work properly for customers as well as employees, we have had employees with heat exhaustion because of no air.

I agree, many of you know my campaigning on these boards ...chock full of ideas for Kmarts brass. However I walked out of a local store because I felt like I was in a sauna...
no a/c means no customers in my book...a frugal thing is fans in front of air ducts can carry cold air further...no a/c is a big customer turn off and no matter the changes
that can be made if customers are uncomfortable then they will go somewhere else and thats something kmart needs to avoid.

I have to say the store I was at last night had their air on (I think), but I was extremely hot inside. Sweat is never very appealing for shoppers. When the heat is high a lot of people will go to malls or big stores to get cooled off. This did not happen to be the case last night. In hindsight I think this store has been hot everytime I have been in it. But it is extremely expensive to cool now with higher costs. Which is better, raising the prices to cover the additional costs? or sweating a little? I will sweat a little. As long as I am not drenched in sweat.

There seems to be a lot of Hoffman staffers here who can pass on the word. Please turn on the Air Conditioner in every Sears store and K-Mart.

The AC is set at 79 degrees in my local Sears. Several of our vents blow out hot air. Real appealing in the summer heat when its 90-100 outside. No wonder the stores are empty!
