Mirus Sucks!!! Don't buy one!!

Just bought my Mirus desktop 11 months ago. 3 months ago my motherboard and power supply went. Being still under warranty I called to see where I needed to take it assuming a local place. But had to pay myself to ship it to the Mirus Company in California. Ilive in Pennsylvania so $95.00 was the cheapest rate I could get.

Well now 3 months after getting it repaired last my hard drive is bad. Got a blue screen that wouldn't let me on and I took it to get looked at and its the hard drive and transmitters or something. These computers are junk and the customer service is horrible too.

My Hp computer I had b4 this is still running and it's 7 years old. This one's not even 1 yet!!!

Computer that meets Photoshop Requirements

Ok so first the requirements listed are bare minimum requirements for CS5. This means that it would run with those, but it will be so incredibly slow you will not use it. Here are a few things to look for, and a few examples:

Processor - Both AMD and Pentium make great processors. Make sure with video editing to go with a dual core or better for the power it needs. AMD makes a Sempron, and Intel a Celeron which are low end processors made to internet surf and such. These will work with CS5, but will slow it down a lot.

Ram - CS5 asks for minimum 1gb or ram, fortunately this is not common anymore anyhow, but I would not go any less than 3, and if running a 64bit OS (Win 7 64bit) I would go as high as 6 even. Graphics are very ram intensive.

Hard Drive - This depends on how you would like to budget. I always suggest go for the largest you can afford, as tomorrow it will be full. Make sure that with today's prices you stay above 500gb though.

Graphics Card - Unlike games you will not see a huge boost in speeds from a high end grphics card. Almost all of today's cards will accomodate OpenGL 2.0, and Shader Model 3.0. If the motherboard has the card built onto it (it would still support your needs) it will borrow from your maximum ram, and can slow it down. I would recommend an add on card.

So for a few examples I used Dell due to the ease of their site. First would be a minimum recommendation. This will run CS5 without issue, but would not be as fast as the full recommendation.

Minimum- I chose the Insiprion 580, and only upgraded the processor, and hard drive slightly. It would be about $560, and it is without an addon grphics card. Here are the specs:

PROCESSORIntel® Core™ i3-540 processor(4MB Cache, 3.06GHz)OPERATING SYSTEMGenuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English - MEMORY4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz- 4 DIMMs - HARD DRIVE640GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache - MONITORSNo Monitor - KEYBOARDDell USB Entry Keyboard - MOUSEDell USB Optical Mouse

Recommended Sysytem - I chose the Dell XPS 9100 which would easily speed through the workings of CS5. For this I added on a grphics card, increased the amount of ram, and the hard drive size for a total of $1300. Here are it's specs:

PROCESSORSIntel® Core™i7-920 processor(8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz) - OPERATING SYSTEMGenuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English - MEMORY8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs - MONITORNo Monitor - VIDEO CARDNVIDIA GeForce G310 512MB DDR3 - HARD DRIVE1.5TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 1.56MB Cache - OPTICAL DRIVESingle Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability - SPEAKERSNo Speaker Option - KEYBOARDDell Studio Consumer Multimedia Keyboard - MOUSEDell Studio Optical Mouse - SOUND CARDTHX® TruStudio PC™

There are many brands of PCs out there, just follow a few of these tips and you should be more than happy.

I'd also be interested in this information. If you purchased a computer, what did you get? and where?

Where did you get the requirements from?

Computer that meets Photoshop Requirements

Hello, I will be purchasing a new computer within the next few weeks. I use Photoshop CS 5 and I need a computer that meets Photoshop CS 5 requirements. Could someone please head me in the right direction. I don't want to purchase a computer only to find that the graphics card, processor, etc. do not meet the requirements. I have included the requirements below:

Requirements:

Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor

Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3; Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 recommended); or Windows 7

1GB of RAM

1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on removable flash-based storage devices)

1024×768 display (1280×800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color, and 256MB of VRAM

Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0

DVD-ROM drive

QuickTime 7.6.2 software required for multimedia features
